JerryBaumchen 1,445 #176 March 24 Hi folks, I can understand about Canadians being annoyed. However, there are these Americans caught up in it also: PNW border city, with land access only through Canada, grapples with Trump trade war - oregonlive.com Jerry Baumchen
wmw999 2,548 #177 March 24 It really just means fewer tourists bringing their money, and more of them using tour groups that will handle the paperwork. Which means richer, older, tourists most likely. The young vibrant ones will go elsewhere. Kind of like Russia, even 20 years ago (ie before it got really weird). I have a cousin who was with the US embassy there; she recommended NOT visiting Russia, even though she loved it. I guess being like Russia is a stretch goal now Wendy P. Are you calling me young and vibrant? I’m liking SC more every day! First Joe tells me “I need more time in the pickle barrel “ because I’m young and dumb , now this :)

I love the southern states, and Greenville SC is one of my favourite spots in the US. I’m a tad nervous about travelling to the US in the near future though. But you’re all welcome to visit Aus in the interim! Only time I went to the Fitz boogie I had to have Fortson Rumble translate for me in the fast food place we went for supper. No, not an immigrant, just a rural southerner taking the orders.

I’ve only been to 2 of the boogies.

gowlerk 2,253 #182 April 28 (edited) Some Americans may be aware that today is Election day in Canada. Of course the Dotard just could not resist a tweet... “Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st. State of the United States of America,” Trump wrote Monday. To which I quote Burton Cummings. "Coloured lights can hypnotize, sparkle someone else's eyes. Now woman, stay away. American woman, listen what I say." Edited April 28 by gowlerk

It was meant to be a tongue in cheek, light hearted rib of the Canadians here with Trump telling them to vote for him :) “Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st. I’m not sure exactly how they have come to that conclusion. But I guess they need to blame it on something other than their policies.
