Aren't You Glad You Voted For Trump

No, you don't got it. It's glib to accuse us of wanting concentration camps next. However, instead the proposed sanitary living conditions that afford opportunities to escape the endless cycle how's about the rest of us, you first, get assigned one or two homeless or psychologically damaged folks to support and help every 5 years or so? No? Of course not, you just want your conscious salved by having a certain level of concern applied from a distance and at a reasonable cost; and to stay engaged you believe the conversation then must be limited to the level of concern and the cost. I have many European friends who are super frustrated at the tax price they pay after following a political philosophy of write checks and don't ask questions for so long. Gifting sufficient free money to live comfortably and freedom, no strings attached, is not the solution.

Hi Joe,

Or as SSGT Don A. Willocks said to us, in Basic Training back in 1960, and which I have never forgotten:  'If you do not like the rules, don't play the game.'

I used to work for the food stamp office; yeah, there’s a willingness problem sometimes, and sometimes there’s a support problem. Parents who felt as though welfare was the best option because they had a kid or two with asthma and couldn’t afford medical bills. Lack of daycare (and this was the 70’s when standards and insurance were lower). And it’s hard to be a single parent of children and work a full time job. Cooking healthy food has to take a back seat sometimes. Welfare in Texas at the time did not pay enough to live on, so this was a serious consideration

I used to posit a system where in exchange for some extra food stamps, qualified (remember, at the time that only meant having a heartbeat) people could provide childcare for the people working. Etc. barter. Now so many people are willing to sue for anything, dunno if it’d work

Wendy P.

Maybe free government run child care -no religion involved with my tax dollars though- that included some health services and was education focused is an answer. Parents would need to accept that the system needs to know about their personal lives or whatever else the system needed to know in exchange. Job workshops, or maybe jobs in the system, could help get the parents on track. And somehow, some way, we'd need to get comfortable requiring birth control and birth terminations for people that can't care for the kids they already have. Unfortunately, as ever, religion will be opposed.

That's called the Public School System.

Used to be. You might check the news on what some of your republican brethren think is good curriculum.

We could ask the public schools and teachers Union to do a better job. We could hold them to a higher standard. If they don't meet our expectations or are incapable, we can take our tax dollars elsewhere.

If you're hinting at the recent SCotUS opt out  ruling about our "good" curriculum, I'll agree.

No it still is - a child care facility with nursing, food - education-focused; not so much.

54% of U.S. adults read below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level.

Virtually every country rates higher than us. Azerbaijan, Cuba, Ukraine, Jordan, Spain, Uruguay, North Macedonia  are all at 98% or greater adult literacy rates. We are at half. Half! https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/mkd/north-macedonia/literacy-rate

U.S. students ranked 28th out of 37 OECD member countries in math.

In science, the U.S. ranked 12th out of 37 OECD countries.

Health Education - Hell, we don't even require a gym class anymore.

So yes, I lean right on doing better in teaching - Reading, Science, Math and health education.

Interestingly the Azerbaijani school system is currently secular with religious interests working for change, like here. Now that our IRS has allowed pastors to preach politics from the pulpit we're one foot further out the door and down the rungs. That's what I oppose. I am all for secular support services as described, and with my tax money, as long as religion is no where in sight.

Health education should include nutrition, the basics of illness (difference between a virus, a bacteria and a parasite), and illness management/prevention (how vaccines work; when to get a vaccine and when to use an expectorant).  Basic personal hygiene and food handling.

Bingo. The why of health things is often not complicated and the down stream benefits can be huge for the individual and society.

When I was in school there was math, science, English (grammar and literature), 2 foreign languages (I did French and Latin), history, world geography.  No health ed, sex ed, how to balance a checkbook or cook a souffle, etc.,  you were supposed to learn that stuff elsewhere.  I got most of my sex ed from my first girlfriend.^_^

We were only required one language. I chose French cause I thought the ladies would dig it. They still chose the guys with Muscle cars. It scarred me for a long time. :)

And from there it developed into today's world of unfortunate values and all of the poor choices made by men. Girls did this to us.

Hi Joe,

One way to deal with a problem is to fix what is in front of you.

The other is to figure why you have a problem in the first place.

IMO one is way better than the other.  But, that is the engineer in me.

Hi folks,

More regret:  LaMalfa’s opening remarks were greeted with expletive-laden shrieks and boos

GOP Rep. Doug LaMalfa confronted by upset crowd at California town halls

Which were then met with jackboots, beatings, and arrests of the few participants. As ever, the many who stayed at home or were bowling received the message loud and clear and will continue to avoid participating, instead hoping it all goes away.

That's what I mean.  "Leftist march through the institutions."  Some propaganda you heard on Newsmax that means nothing, but sounds like a really sick burn that owns the libs.

Hi Bill

That's a really cool question, I appreciate the quotes,I don't want you or the mods to think I'm flaming you.N0 burn just perspective.

But it's not propaganda quite the contra.

You should take pride in the progress for progress sake. But there are amendment violations that need our attention. I'm trying to steelman your point, but came up empty, the revolution was complete. Hell, even churches and the last,Pope was a Leftist.lol

Ideologically engulfed  Academia, the Academies,Media albeit fox/newsmax,just scratches the surface.

How Jack Dorsey and twitter and our Govt' side stepped Our First as it relates to the laptop.Just before an election. How, the usual suspects and the 51 former intel officials ? and their agencies told us it was a Russian Plant.,so Joe could go on stage at the debate and Lie to us,even though the FBI had it in their possession.I believe for over a year.We can talk about the other things too, how ideology captured the APA / AAP on the woke thread. How junk science was used to sway opinions. But ya, You Had it all.

If you're a drinking man take one...light them,if you got'em.

Given that Twitter and our government and every conservative in the US sidestepped rape, felony convictions, pedophile support and outright fraud right before an election, I can't take you at all seriously.  There were no crimes found on the laptop.  Rape and falsifying business records ARE crimes.

Trump's Counterrevolution Is Succeeding

Yep.  The American Revolution happened almost 250 years ago, during which we rejected the idea of a king.  Trump is leading a counterrevolution to that, to bring back a king.

Agreed.  You can't even tell Trump to stop giving aid and comfort to convicted pedophiles.  How sad it must be that you find yourself on the side supporting pedophilia.

No agreements, No congratulations lol.Not a peep of plausible deniability.Damn... I hope I'm not playing with sore losers.

Victor Davis Hanson has a pretty good track record, and his take is generally insightful.

As I have stated, I think Trump is a truly awful human being but prefer the changes pointed out by VDH to anything proffered by the competition.

Trump is enough older than Hitler was, so he won't be viable for much longer.  I don't think he'll last into a 5th term.

The changes we are seeing could only come from a seriously disruptive actor, and Captain Chaos is the best we could do.

If the deficit could be addressed as Javier Milei seems to be doing in Argentina, I'd feel a little better.  As it is, it looks like we're fucked.

Maybe we could get to the onset of the next election and Trump could choke on a chicken bone.  Unfortunately, further progress would require selecting someone competent for the next go around, and we seem to weed out the competent right out of the gate.
