No gas for 2024

We have two cars - a Tesla model S (which Amy gets of course) and an 8 year old Prius Prime.  I last filled it in November of 2023 after a trip to Vegas for work.

Since then I haven't filled it, and I still have 1/8 of a tank left.  So looks like I will make it all the way through 2024 without buying gas once.

It should be noted that this is NOT advised - Toyota recommends you fill the tank at least once every 6 months, and that if you go a long time without getting gas, you keep the tank as full as possible to reduce water accumulation.  But once I got to 3/4 of a tank and it was already May I wanted to see if I could make it with no gas for the year.

I have a 278hp Accord Coupe and although it has an Eco mode I rarely use it as it retards throttle response, so only decent mileage. OTOH my wife’s Mercedes GLS has a 365hp turbo and even though it is a hybrid, the whole Texas oil patch stands up and cheers every time we drive it.

I also went all year without getting gas. That also includes the miniscule amount of gas needed for my lawn equipment since I transitioned them (except for a blower) to battery/electric also.

But on top of that, my whole house is electric and I just finished the year (our electrical company ends their year December 10th) with a net kWhr reserve of approximately 750 kWhr. Of course, the electric company screwed me over by only paying $0.02 per kWhr for the reserve. It was a good year that my solar generated more energy than I needed to live and travel in my car.

Edit to add: my car is a 2018 Model S with 762 hp & 487 lb-ft of torque since it seems that people like to post that about their vehicles...

My Audi S5 is standard 349hp turbo charged, but have it chipped so we are up to around 449hp. My local gas stations love feeding me the 94 octane.

Just got my relatively regular wine delivery. It is delivered by a medical transportation company, so it is in a temp controlled environment and it is always the same delivery driver. A very nice middle aged Muslim man.

Today after a chat he wished me a Merry Christmas, as he has in previous years.

The only people who believe there is a war on Christmas are white, generally male, middle aged Christians.
