The Clown Show aka trump's Cabinet

Recommended Posts

Professionalism has never been a suitable description for how trump operates. He is now appointing cabinet ministers at a furious pace. Most will bypass any oversight or senate confirmations. His first performance in the WH was marked by a revolving door of staff. Loyalists are at the core of all of his appointments to date.

The secretary of defence is an interesting pick "Mr. Hegseth “an exceptional host on ‘Fox & Friends’ and ‘Fox Nation’ and a best-selling author for Fox News Books for nearly a decade.” “His insights and analysis, especially about the military, resonated deeply with our viewers and made the program the major success that it is today,” the statement said.

The Homeland Security Secretary is Kristi Noem, republican from S. Dakota, "she will have a broad mandate to enact the sweeping crackdown he promised on the campaign trail, including mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, the hiring of more border agents and construction of more detention facilities." She has natural inclinations in these areas as she is the one who killed her own retriever puppy after claiming it was "untrainable". This likely earned her top spot in trump's books as he is well known to hate dogs.spacer.png

"Noem was banned from visiting the lands of all nine of South Dakota's official Native American tribes in 2024 after claiming some of them had been infiltrated by drugs cartels." She also claimed to have personally met Kim Jong Un "Early versions of No Going Back (her book) acquired ahead of publication by a number of media organizations included the claim that Noem had met with Kim Jong Un. According to The New York Times, Noem wrote: "I remember when I met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. I'm sure he underestimated me, having no clue about my experience staring down little tyrants (I'd been a children's pastor, after all). Dealing with foreign leaders takes resolve, preparation, and determination." Perhaps she can swap stories with trump about Kim. Sharing the reasons why he is such a swell guy.

Well, I'm sure you'll take some consolation that he's appointing some people other than old, white men. Because, for liberals, that's what's really going to matter here.

OK, you've got me here. I thought that was a hoax parody when I first read it. WTF?

From Al Jazeera today "Huckabee is vocal about his evangelical Christian faith, which he ties to his policies towards Israel. For instance, he has cited the Bible on several occasions to argue that the Israeli-occupied West Bank is part of Israeli territory." Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is trump's appointment as ambassador to Israel.

In the past he has stated that Arabs and Palestinians have no rights in the west bank. That any two state solution will never happen. IMO this is all just Allah's just reward for Arab Americans voting for trump. In the mistaken belief that trump will bring peace to Palestinians.

Palestinians have a knack for picking losers for leaders.

You really need to wonder how our system made it this far. Turns out our hoped for first time voters were simply too ill-informed and/or dumb to make a decision in their favor. Our vaunted land of immigrants is now a real laughing matter as so many chose to vote for petty self interests and political causes in other countries and not to sustain the democracy that sustains them now. Many young women voted for Trump as did young men; whom as a group, sanity suggests, should be more concerned about abortion rights than any other cohort. 12% of the LGBTQ community voted Trump? Seriously? Of course the list goes on and the truly sad thing is that most have already gone back to their normal tuned out, picture scrolling, selfie taking selves and are free from being appalled at little things like Gaetz for AG or Trumps plan to purge our officer corps ala Stalin. The reality seems to be that I can add fixing American Democracy to finding life in our solar system: things that won't happen because we made terrible choices.

"We didn't think he would actually do what he said" was a common refrain in the late 30s and will be a common refrain in the late 20s

Yep.  In German the phrase was "es wird nichts so heiß gegessen, wie es gekocht wird."  No one thought Hitler would actually kill all the Jews, but they had to do SOMETHING!  The Jews were killing German kids and using their blood for their religious rituals!  How can anyone allow that?

"Marry in haste, repent at leisure"

There needs to be a version about voting.  I suspect there will be a lot of repenting going on.

Some of us have the luxury of crusading and can now pivot to the luxury of not caring. Too many in the generations after us don't have the ability to see down the street much less around the corner and will suffer. They won't see it but they need to get off their lazy, entitled asses and work overtime, second jobs, gig jobs, and anything that can lower their debt and improve their situations. $6-7 dollar coffees, new cars, designer clothes and even state college over community college needs to be cast aside. They need to study the work ethic of the boomer generation and get with it while the getting is still good.

Sounds appalling:

But for those who have closely followed his legislative career, the Florida lawmaker represents a sharp break from the corporate-friendly orthodoxy of the modern Republican Party. Indeed, Gaetz’s elevation will provide sprawling prosecutorial powers for continuing his push against special interest influence and corporate malfeasance.

His record speaks for itself. From his perch on the House Judiciary Committee, Gaetz has promoted a surprisingly consumer-friendly agenda, routinely breaking with his GOP colleagues on crucial votes. He previously supported legislative measures to break up Silicon Valley monopolies, sharply regulate the online data broker industry, ban noncompete employment contracts, and an end to the practice of forced arbitration, among other corporate accountability votes. He has also taken maverick positions on reducing FBI surveillance powers, cutting certain arms supplies to Saudi Arabia and legalising marijuana.

Yep.  The pedophilia and sex trafficking is new, too.

Blah blah whatever. Not that his appointment had anything to do with his legislative priorities beyond 'give Trump what he wants' - how hard would you have to look to find someone who supported those things who wasn't a drug addled child abuser?

Those were dropped and reopened when they likely knew he was going to be AG.  They had 1000s of pages of testimony and came up with nothing.  There is a lot of incentive to go after him since he is one of the few bucking corporate power and not playing nice with status quo.

There have been two investigations into his pedophilic activities.  They didn't have "nothing" - they had plenty.  Three eyewitnesses who placed him at a drug-heavy party where an underage girl was seen naked and having sex, for example.  Earlier, his wingman Joel Greenberg - who he traveled with to the Bahamas regularly - was found guilty of sex trafficking underage women to the Bahamas.  Since Gaetz was also known to travel with underage girls to the Bahamas, he was under investigation as well.  He has claimed that just because he is generous to his girlfriends, that's not a crime - although traveling with underage women with the purpose of having sex with them is in fact a crime.

He has echoed his preferences for sex trafficking in his legislative life.  In 2017 he was the only representative to vote against the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act, an anti-human-trafficking bill that provided resources for the Department of Transportation to crack down on the use of buses and trucks to transport sex slaves.  The bill could have been used to investigate his own transportation of underage women, so he had a clear interest in seeing it quashed.

We know he's been worried about what will happen with these charges; a few months ago he tasked a lobbyist of his, Chris Dorworth, with destroying all the court records of the more recent event.  Now he won't need to do any of that.  Since Trump has a record of pardoning political supporters, Gaetz will get away with it no matter what they find.

We're entering a new era of American politics, where criminals can do what they like as long as they have the support of the president.

Plus the congressional investigation has ended now that he has stepped down from Congress.
