brenthutch 444 #1 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Science says yes! And Texas is as well. So much for BillV’s quip that folks moving from California to Texas would increase the IQs of both states. (It sounded cute at the time, but the data shows otherwise) https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/average-iq-by-state#google_vignette Edited September 18, 2024 by brenthutch

How does presenting a static number disprove a change? Oh look, today the numbers are this, that disproves things have changed seems like a really dumb argument. Especially since migrants tend to be from the higher end of the socioeconomic and educated population of their original countries.

Ironically if Springfield got some more Haitian immigrants, the IQ there would go up and crime would go down. And since the only person who was actually eating a cat was an Ohioan, that issue would decline as well.

You're basing your premise upon .1%(a tenth of a percent) of a single point of a single IQ test. The margin of error is probably 2-3%. Several different IQ tests would likely reverse the findings of this single test by several points. I'm surprised that this supposedly reputable source that you used would even present such a statistically insignificant difference as a fact to be presented as meaningful consideration.

As the only poster here who, apparently, has actually taken a bite of cat, not eaten because my stomach wasn't helpful, I have to say I'm not surprised it's not on offer at fine restaurants everywhere. wmw999 2,566 #8 September 21, 2024 I had a co-worker who grew up very poor in Taiwan; I don't remember her saying anything about cat, but she did say dog meat was OK, but reserved for days when there wasn't enough food. And mutt meat is much better than pure bred. Wendy P.

It gets really interesting around page 30 or so when they break results down by party, gender and race.
