If they wanted to win they'd put up Tammy Duckworth.  She would have broad support and would infuriate Trump; she is everything he hates.  And not even Teflon Don could recover from calling her a whore, a sucker, a loser etc.

She's a disabled female of color. I trust people to be rational less than you, I guess.

Born in Thailand to an American father and a Thai mother. Can you say "birther"?

So we shouldn't teach Commandoes not to call a fellow black soldier the N word because they are trained to wipe shit out?

I can tell you with the utmost confidence that one Ranger would not call another the N word. And, even if it should happen; that's an educational process that would not occur in the classroom.

Of course not. Words like that are only for outsiders, and of course enemies.

disagree.  It is never 'too late' to save the democracy or fight to preserve it.  That means we are simply trying to hang onto power instead of doing what is right.

I believe that ANY decent Democratic candidate could beat Trump with or without money.  Biden staying in just demonstrates that even the Democrats are mired in their own political power structure and do not give a fuck about the country.

The sad part right now is the discussion is 100% about how unfit Biden is for office and not even 1% about how unfit Trump is for office.  Representative Democracy is dead and has been systematically dismantled for decades, by one party TRYING to do it and the rest of america doing NOTHING or standing by saying we are 'overreacting'.

The good news?  The civil war with kill them all and install a parliamentary based socialist government that takes care of the people.  Even the right wing will lose everything that they claim to be fighting for, because it is only about power and control for a few.

Happy fourth of July folks - no idea what we are celebrating today.  This place is fucked.

Hi tk,

Re:  I believe that ANY decent Democratic candidate could beat Trump with or without money.

Yup - 1000%

Re:  Biden staying in just demonstrates that even the Democrats are mired in their own political power structure and do not give a fuck about the country.

Sad but true.  What about what Joe's mother told him in 2008:  'Joey, do what is best for the country.'

Short memory I guess.

Re:  The sad part right now is the discussion is 100% about how unfit Biden is for office and not even 1% about how unfit Trump is for office.

IMO Trump did not move the needle one iota in his debate performance.  Biden blew it.  Politics is no game for the faint-hearted.  As I posted before:  Trump is going the wrong way on the race track, but he is going like a bat out of hell.

His MAGA folks love it.

Re:  Representative Democracy is dead and has been systematically dismantled for decades

Ever since Newt was the Speaker.

Re:  Happy fourth of July folks

Yup; it was fun while it lasted.

Take care, tk,

Right, but we have previously discussed how racism is pretty pervasive in the armed forces. Maybe the Rangers are absolutely perfect, as you highlight, but that certainly isn't the case in the rest of the forces.

So should there be training, as you highlight above. Or should there not be training, as you highlight above.

Boy, that was a dumb thing to say. How long until we see the Trump ad asking about the 8:30PM phone call? Piling dumb on to dumb was not what I was hoping for.

No. Our friends on the left here discussed how racism is pretty pervasive in the military. As it stands now, "Congress added a requirement for human relations training for members of the Armed Forces. The law, codified at 10 U.S.C §113 note, identifies topics to be covered during initial training and regularly as, “race relations, equal opportunity, opposition to gender discrimination, and sensitivity to 'hate group' activity.” The statute also requires training for commanders to prevent “impermissible activity based upon discriminatory motives” from occurring in units under their command." ~Congressional Research Service

IOW. If you see it; fix it.

Good to know that I am not the only one in the world that sees the damage that Newt Gingrich did, and I wasn't even remotely close to being in the USA at that time - still in Canada.

Newt was the first to normalize lying and talk about 'what people believe' instead of the truth..... untold damage started right there.

Does the special prosecutor's report begin to make sense now?

https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/the-impossible-role-of-robert-hur

Hur’s report stated that his investigation “uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice-presidency when he was a private citizen.” Yet Hur concluded that “the evidence does not establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.” He reasoned that “at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” In Hur’s view, “it would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties—of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

I thought it was very interesting how the report by Hur contrasted with the testimony he gave. You know, the testimony he gave under oath, where demonstrable lies would have consequences.

And also with the transcripts of the interviews with Biden.

I was struck by the refusal of the DoJ to release the tapes of the interviews. Probably because Biden sounds very old and confused in them.

Or because the Rs have shown a strong propensity to edit stuff to make their opponents look bad.

I've seen plenty of fast paced Trump blooper type edits. They are funny and the make him look like the buffoon he is. Biden edits show something a little more sad. I don't envy America its choice. Happy 4th!

Hi Ken,

1.  He had a cold.  Yet, he seemed to get over it the next day in Charlotte.

2.  It was jet lag.  Yet, he had not been anywhere for 12 days.

3.  Now, he says he needs more sleep.

He must be campaigning for Trump.

If he was truly in charge of his faculties, he would fire his entire campaign team.

It is only to get worse.

Biden, Ginsberg? No one seems to be able to tell powerful people it's time to go. Like I said earlier, if the D party foists this choice upon the nation then it deserves the result it will inevitably see.

I was hopeful he'd find a way to fill in the hole he's dug for himself but it just keeps getting deeper. Crap.

Hi Joe,

And, even deeper with this:  Biden said that he was in good shape but then quipped, "It's just my brain."

Biden may still decide to exit race, Hawaii governor says : NPR

OK, when do you folks out there think when he will toss in the towel?

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  Can you not just see the salivating by the Trump/MAGA people?
