Attributing this action to "a fit if rage" understates the risk to us all at play here.  The types of contraceptives destroyed (birth control pills, IUDs) are regularly labeled "abortifacents" by the "pro-life" movement, which is shifting from just anti-abortion to more of an anti-contraception stance.  I believe these types of contraceptives are suggested to be banned in Project 2025.  Destroying this stockpile of contraceptives was not an act of rage, it was part of a plan that leads to eliminating them in the US as well.

Also because it downplays the pervasive influence of the anti-abortion / anti-contraception movement throughout American politics.

Although lying and pretending that it's all to do with abortion is perhaps uniquely Trumpian, once they've taken that position then destroying the aid rather than cooperate with international humanitarian organisations is simply the continuation of decades of Republican policy. 

A U.S. policy called the "Mexico City Policy," instituted by President Ronald Reagan during a 1984 conference in that city, restricts foreign nongovernmental organizations from using U.S. federal funds to provide abortion services or related information. Presidents have alternately rescinded and reinstated the policy since its creation; most recently, President Trump brought it back at the start of his second term.

Both excellent points. The power and influence of the radical christian right can never be underestimated.
