Hi Joe,

Just reading the news today, I must conclude that Lee has no idea on what he truly believes.  He is not alone.

Jerry Baumchen

He believes in clicks, eyeballs, and animating his MAGA base to stay in office. Like the rest of the Autocracy Party good governance and the continuation of Democracy in America are far, far down the list of concerns.

It’s a slippery slope. First you don’t allow nipples on TV, then you’re an authoritarian theocracy

Yet we do allow children to see the most heinous violent murderous content all day every day.

NOT the beauty of life, but the celebration of death.

Fucking USA. yay.

TRUMP HAS BEEN CROWNED KING!

In a major victory for President Trump, the court restricted the ability of federal judges to block his executive orders.

"The 6-to-3 decision, written by Justice Amy Coney Barrett and split along ideological lines"

167 days into trump's presidency the doors have been thrown wide open. Get ready for Project 2025 on steroids courtesy Stephen Miller.

Hi Phil,

I find this one the most confusing:  allowing President Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship to go into effect in some areas of the country, for now

Supreme Court allows Trump to partially enforce birthright citizenship order

To me, if you are born here, you are a US citizen or you are not.

Allowing it in some areas of the country is just plain nutz.

We are damn sure in for a hell of a ride.

Barrett's argument, was essentially and apparently, that you don't want to create an Imperial Judiciary to defense against an Imperial presidency which seems bunk to me. Seems to me their goal, and effect, was just the opposite: lower courts can now make fewer far reaching orders curtailing unconstitutional Executive Orders which can only mean more power to the Supreme Court. The USA will never be what it was and, worse, neither will the worlds future.

IMO the Supremes are not apolitical any longer.

Yes, the USSC always had the final say. But now there will never be dissenting opinions from lessor judges to challenge their kafkaesque decisions turning America to the far right.

Far from it. More than Trump I see this as why our standing in the world is lost.

Oh Yeah! Corruption Perceptions Index

Denmark     100

Estonia         81.8

Canada        80.5

Hong Kong   79.2

Bahamas      67.5

USA              67.5

With the help of Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett  America will soon be in the fifties.

The important thing to remember is that as long as we don’t make waves all that is lost is our dignity. It is still possible to be successful in an autocracy, just not as successful as the autocrats. Most people pay zero attention to their government and already expect their leaders to be as corrupt as possible so for most folks, as long as you see value in harming select others, it’s a change for the better.

Is there a point at which you might think "I should have voted for Harris in order to avoid what's happening?"

No. But I do think that if the Democrats put up somebody of fortitude in the next election. I will vote for them.

Hi Keith,

Re:  somebody of fortitude

What is your definition of a person like that?

I think that these are called follow-on questions.
