Hi folks,

This is an interesting opinion piece; I know I was voting against Trump:  Trump's influence on future US presidential elections

There was much less passion for Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris than there was pure, unadulterated, unhinged hatred of Trump.  

 I can say for sure that in my sampling of friends and family, all who voted for Clinton, Biden and Harris were really voting against Trump

Any thoughts?

Old news, I'm afraid. Here Winsor is right, we put up poor candidates. Where he is wrong is that they were worse than Trump.

Indeed, and my metric is to not irreversibly harm our nation by inciting a confused citizenry to divide and conquer themselves so one ideology might consolidate dictatorial power as Trump is clearly doing. In fact, he loudly telegraphed his intentions long before the last election. Christian against Muslim, rich against poor, blue against red, cities against farms, science against ignorance and on and on and on. Somehow, according to your worldview, there is less harm in that idea than in E Pluribus Unum. I disagree.

You’ve never successfully argued or articulated why everyone else is so much worse than Trump - especially Harris.

At this point I believe you’d vote for Putin or Satan provided they ran on a republican ticket and if Jesus Christ ran on a democratic ticket there’d be something that made him unelectable.

But he has made it clear: his opposition to all things DEI dominate his political viewpoint. In that world view dilution, which is the inevitable result, is the road to perdition. What is weird is that Winsor is very accomplished and is clearly a highly intelligent person who should be able to deflect mediocrity when needed. Given that we poor fools and simpletons are a form of continuing entertainment seems to prove the point.

Why does that make it weird? Highly intelligent people can be just as racist as idiots like Pete Hegseth and Charlie Kirk.

I saw Alice Cooper performing in Orlando around 04-05.

He was the parking lot entertainment for the opening of a small, now defunct, driving range.

I was laughing too hard to actually stop and listen to him play though. Pretty sad to see old musicians fade away, although David Lee Roth is quite sadly entertaining lately.

Most of us have a part of the brain we use to empathize with or feel concern for other people.  In Trump's brain that part is a mass of worms.  He is unable to feel concern for anyone except himself and possibly his children (who are an extension of himself).  Born into extreme wealth, and never having had to worry for a second about money, he is incapable of imaginig himself in the position of being unable to afford food or anything else.  That also explains why he is so uncaring about military personnel he rips from their families and jobs to carry out his political theater.  To Trump people are just tools to be used and discarded when they are no longer useful, or obstacles to be destroyed.

But nevertheless to some people he's still better than Harris, or Biden, or Obama. For "reasons".

Plus, Sec Noem was here yesterday for a first-hand look.  I do not know what universe she lives in:  “( Noem said ) my concern, is that you’ve got so many people here in Portland playing politics. They don’t realize they’re up against professional terrorists”

The only thing that I know of any blood being shed is due to the ICE agents assaulting law-abiding protesters; including one couple in their 80's.

I'm am not going to tell anyone that Portland is all milk & honey; it is like any other large, major city.  It has its dark side [ IMO not much ] and it has its very nice side.  This area is a great place to live & raise a family; ask me how I know.

We now have three cases in the Chicago area where ICE agents' claims made to justify arresting (in one case shooting) protestors have been shown to be lies when the video finally came to light.

Lies all the way from the very top top to the bottom.

Lies are good in the MAGA world. The videos will play endlessly on FOX along with pepper spraying brown and liberal protesters. Perhaps a little use of nightsticks and batons to titillate the Trump base. To prove that Trump is really owning the libs.
