Apologies, Joe. I had things to do yesterday afternoon. Let's be honest. All the rhetoric about the second amendment is there for the prevention of tyrannical government is Billy Joe Bob redneck Bubba Hoohah bullshit. Most making the noise about overthrowing the government are tiktok wannabe stars that when the SHTF would go back to their houses and be silent.

This is still the Internet with a public view,

Of course. All of the rhetoric over needing the second to protect democracy and the American way of life is, these day's, just bullshit. Trained veterans, armed Bubba's, and gopher shooting DZO's won't be rising up to oppose tyranny no matter the talk about years of service defending our nation or gardens. The truth is that we really don't care if small groups of citizens lose some or all of their freedoms to where we'd risk our own asses in their defense. We'll deplore it, absolutely, but if our democratic form of government continues to be eroded away we'll just sit and watch because we're all in the protected group an autocrat will need. We'll assure ourselves that'll it'll all go back around or that it can't get worse as we sit back and watch it unfold like it was on TV. You can remind me it's the internet and dogkys can scold me with Monty Python reminders, as if I didn't already know, but the point is no one will do a goddamn thing.

Each of us has a small voice, and we know it. The 2nd types hope that the guns increase the volume. Not sure what volume is needed, but if we can still vote next year I suggest a movement of “it’s only 2 years — elect a Democrat, stop the madness.

They hope against truth, and will wait and wait pretending not enough evidence is yet before them when the truth is that fear of being the next to lose is what holds them back. That's the problem. The second amendment became a pure hypothetical in 1865, plan and simple. I won't take arms and rise up against the military and neither will meaningful numbers of any affected group, especially those who believe they will. We will simply accept the changes and survive as best we can.

Hi Joe,

You nailed it:

The Nazi's first came for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.  Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.  Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.  Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.  Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me.

This. That's true all over the world and a lesson I learned in during Desert Shield. The Kuwaitis were approached about signing up to fight for their country. 200 responded. The Emir of Kuwait pledged 13 billion for their defense and watched the war from his yacht. We; and the rest of our allies effectively became mercenaries at that point.

Point being is _most_ people will look around for others to do something,

This is why the Jan.6 rioters are heros to their people. Some are willing to commit. When RonD was around he tried to make us understand.

Hi Jerry

This has nothing to do about burnt and everything to do about you.

Did you get to walk the decks of Our USCGC Eagle when it was on our west coast ?

My Pops surely did, he made for curious moments and some impressions among the crew. I think the insignia on his hat had something to do with it. If you didn't get the chance,I'd highly recommend it, perhaps one day...

Trump loves to drive friendships and laughs.Among America's enemies. India previously had been courted as a friend and as a counter to China. With his lies to Modi about single handily driving peace between India and Pakistan. In order to win his cherished Nobel Peace prize. Then his India tariffs

India is firmly back in the camp of Russia and China. Now numbering collectively about three billion people. Yep Trump sure can work wonders.

Ya know, I almost could have seen it after 9/11. Not really, but I wouldn't have been nearly as disgusted.

But once you include the last 10 years...

You don't think?....nah...well.... Do you think Trump will give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the January 6th insurrectionists as Trump has labelled them as "heroes"?

Triumph of the Insurrectionists "The Trump administration is on a mission to turn the perpetrators of January 6 into heroes." After all: "House creates panel to investigate Jan. 6 subcommittee after long delay." and "One of the rioters’ lawyers wants to create a panel that would decide on financial damages for what the rioters believe were unfair prosecutions." and well! A federal judge has authorized a $2,200 refund to a Jan. 6 rioter whose felony conviction was dropped after President Donald Trump issued a blanket pardon to those who breached the Capitol or attacked police.

Could they also double up and get the Congressional medal of Honor? After all Trump has called them "martyrs, heroes and warriors".

So I've had our American flag mounted upside down since the 4th of July.

Hardcore white winger across the street put up a Trump won Get over it Flag on his country fence in the front yard facing us.

Southern redneck. Army medical discharged from his first round canopy jump. He landed in a tree and cutaway. Sorry, but I do see this as funny.

He's married to a black woman. He has daughters.

I'm never going to understand how those choices in life allows him to vote against his own choices.

We understand the First Amendment so, meh - no biggie. We're exercising our rights, he should also.

The flag was gone this morning. Skymama swears it was his wife that made it happen.

That's a strong statement. There is a redneck near our DZ who has been flying the Canadian flag upside down since the trucker convoy anti-vaxx fiasco that we when through here. It drives me nuts everytime I see it. I understand your feelings, but I advise you not to do that with your national flag. Maybe get a MAGA flag and fly it upside down instead. And given the gun violence in the US I fear for you and yours.

Speaking of fraud Trump had a fundraiser in the White House last night. All the usual contributors were there except Elon. All of Trump's new "friends" were there to lobby for exemptions to the new tariffs for their business. Trump had his solid 24k gold Iphone on display  a gift from Apple just a month ago.

For the rest of America's business who couldn't kiss the golden ring.Couldn't come up with solid gold "gifts".  US Customs and Border protection will accept your tariff payments.

It's hard being brave, especially when it hurts personally. Myself, I took the flag off our boat the morning of November 6. When I get asked about it I say it blew off in the election, end of questions.

You're not the only one:

"Strolling in bright sunshine across the immaculately raked gravel of Paris's Tuileries gardens, Barbara and Rick Wilson from The Dalles, Oregon, were not exactly in disguise. But earlier that morning, on their very first trip to France, Rick, 74, had taken an unusual precaution.

Before leaving his hotel, he'd taken a small piece of black tape and covered up the Stars and Stripes flag on the corner of his baseball cap.

"We're sick about it. It's horrible. Just horrible," said Rick, as he and his wife contemplated the sudden sense of shame and embarrassment they said they now felt, as Americans, following President Trump's abrupt moves on global trading tariffs.

Barbara, 70, even had a Canadian lapel pin in her pocket – a gift from another tourist - which she thought might come in useful if further subterfuge proved necessary."

Its OK Barbara, we don't mind.

I refuse to hide from being American, I'm just not  especially proud of it for the time being.
