Ummmm . . . In the early 18th century, fruitcake was outlawed entirely throughout Continental Europe. These cakes were considered as “sinfully rich.”

Within the last week Trump has told Israel that it has to stop the prosecution of Netanyahu or he would punish Israel. The Israeli prosecutors office cancelled a scheduled prosecution hearing. Then Trump demanded Bolsonaro's trial end in Brazil or he would put 50% tariffs on Brazil.

Its no joke that Trump has been publishing memes relating to god. From the republican party nothing, from evangelicals nothing and from FOX more praise.

You'd think an eruption was coming but I've come to despair how incompetent the left is at politics. You'd think they'd be screaming about Epstein's list from the rooftops and claiming shamelessly that Trump is on it in several places. If the DOJ shows it claim there are redactions. You'd think that they'd be filling the news cycle with Trumps indisputable use of tariffs, at the expense of American citizens, to coerce sovereign nations to bend to his will and ignore their own legal systems--and put Pete Buttigieg on Fox to explain it in simple terms. You'd think they'd have learned by now that whenever they get on TV they must always answer questions with a thank you for the great question and then go off the rails talking about Epstein, Bolsinaro and Bibi, and Melania's anti-Christian nude photographs or anything besides actual policy. But they somehow cannot figure it out and that's why I think we are fucked.

So, I _think_ we're all pretty much of a like mind when it comes to what's been happening with the deportation situation. Rolling up on someone because they're brown and demanding papers until it escalates to a beat down. ICE/CBP/Police take an oath to uphold the constitution not unlike soldiers. Soldiers are taught to refuse an illegal order. Unfortunately, less senior police/soldiers get the class, but become leary of its execution. Think Abu Ghraib. I blame the leadership.

Yesterday -

Quote

Friday’s ruling comes after the ACLU of Southern California brought a case against the Trump administration last week on behalf of five people and immigration advocacy groups, alleging that DHS — which oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement — has made unconstitutional arrests and prevented detainees’ access to attorneys.

The ruling is limited to the seven-county jurisdiction of the US Central District of California, which includes Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

Frimpong said in her ruling that the court needed to decide whether the plaintiffs could prove that the Trump administration “is indeed conducting roving patrols without reasonable suspicion and denying access to lawyers.”

“This Court decides—based on all the evidence presented—that they are,” Frimpong wrote.

Frimpong went on to say that the administration “failed” to provide information about the basis on which they made the arrests. The temporary restraining order also applies to the FBI and the Justice Department, which were also listed as defendants in the lawsuit and have been involved in immigration enforcement.

In Friday’s ruling, Frimpong also ordered DHS to maintain and provide regular documentation of arrests to plaintiffs’ counsel.

I realize I'm on the opposite side of most of you when it comes to Illegal entry, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do something. We had to have court intervention to do the right thing.  There is a constitution and a code of federal regulations for a reason. There have been so many errors in the past 20 years. Not developing more points of entry, not securing the borders, no vetting process, etc. etc. But, none of it matters if we as a nation do not do things the right way until we are here. “A society should be judged not by how it treats its outstanding citizens but by how it treats its criminals.” ~Fyodor Dostoyevsky

I’m definitely not in favor of loose borders but best of luck keeping the less fortunately born from risking everything for a better life. The only possible solution is in forming beneficial alliances with contiguous nations to stem the tide. The idea that we must militarize our police and shred our constitution because it’s out of control is simpleminded. I think the best start is recognizing that our illegal population is maybe 2% and most are contributing to our economy. We should simply hold our noses and call the majority winners while we root out the bad apples. Post that the penalties should be harsh. The impossible part would be negotiating real solutions with Mexico and Canada to control both sides of our borders all the while recognizing that the costs and benefits will not be equally spread and that the problem will never be truly resolved.

No argument on any of your points. We've had this discussion about the _right_ approach. I just watched the news this morning and saw the silliness in California, beat downs here and there, continuous violations of the constitituion by law enforcement (no surprise) and just got my pissed off for the day and wanted to vent.

We see pics of soldiers in foreign countries giving children water, food, etc. while here we see children getting scared by those to serve and protect and it just pisses me off.  /rant II

Agreed.

But I want to return to your comment that there is nothing that Trump could do that would make you wish you had voted for Harris.

I mean, let's say in a year he cancels elections until "the emergency is over," deports any democrat in a race that threatens a republican, and requires LGBT people to wear a pink star on their shirt so they can be kept away from children.  Would you still think that "well, that's horrible, but it's still better than Harris?"

The simple fact that we require our police to wear body cameras in the false hope that knowing they are filming their violations of our civil liberties and rights might get them to take the whole serve and protect thing seriously says it all.

Hi John,

There is a lot of truth in your post.

IMO the first step to come up with a reasonable candidate with policies acceptable to the voters is to get rid of the old guard; Schumer, et al.

 Nor will I.

The left has become the party of we hate. Garcia a rising star uses a unique violent rhetoric...particularly distasteful, considering. All fight,No compromise.

Fetterman had a chance but the party thought differently. It must have been his quote after Trump's address to Congress,to paraphrase. {Oh, not an attack on you, it's the par-tee.}

  All due respect Sir.

I misquoted the author, regardless his words and his timeless context resonates, and I agree completely.

There are a few quotes commonly attributed to Fyodor Dostoevsky that are frequently misquoted or are not actually his. Here's one of the most prominent examples:
"The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons."
This quote, while widely circulated and even translated back into Russian and displayed in some institutions, was never written or uttered by Dostoevsky. It seems to have originated in the second half of the 1960s, serving as a motto for a prison reform organization and newsletter in English, and later mistakenly attributed to him. It's ironic that this quote, which has become so popular, is not from the Russian author known for his impactful portrayal of prison life in works like "The House of the Dead".
It's important to be cautious and verify the source when encountering Dostoevsky quotes, especially online. Several reasons contribute to the misattribution of quotes, including:
  • Translation variations: Different translations of his works can lead to variations in the wording of quotes.
  • Attribution errors: Quotes can be mistakenly attributed to authors over time, especially when shared on social media or in less formal contexts.
In some cases, quotes are even fabricated and attributed to famous authors to lend them credibility.
This is the {misquote} I posted... and "Not my second" ref. to facebook. lol.
 Cheers

  Hi Jerry,

Where is Brent, was he banned ? I can't imagine that happening, he always seemed respectful to me. This is his Trump Thread yet haven't read a post one. Sucks not having him around to brainstorm ideas.

Considering Trump's competitiveness I wonder if his goal is to surpass 0bama, as the deporter in chief.lol

 Trump is actually funny.Even during the somber affair of Carter's funeral. Trump and 0bama sat side by side,Trump said something that made Barack smile and laugh,I wonder what he said. I'm guessing something like;

You know Barrack, "I'm the first President that's a convicted felon,shit...I'm more hood than you.lol

OK. Fortune News said Dostyevsky said it. The quote still matters.
