Hegseth told reporters Monday that the removals were necessary because he didn't want them to pose any "roadblocks to orders that are given by a commander in chief." He’s done the same with the FBI, CIA, NSA, DOJ, and DHS. He's raised the military budget to over a trillion which is now more than the next 9 largest country's military budget. He's signing mineral deals with Ukraine.  So either, we're going to war over minerals, or we learned from communism to take other countries, or it’s a coup, or it's all of the above. Got it?

It’s mind blowing the pace of change in the US. The political silence is deafening and it’s scary to watch.

The 100 day stats were that congress has passed about 5 bills, one of the worst performances in history. Trump is ruling by imperial decree and largely ignoring court orders he doesn’t like.

It’s sad because American’s have historically had a strong spine and willingness to stand up for rights. Yet it’s now common to see old ladies dragged out from town meetings by police for asking the wrong questions.

Hi folks,

But, but, the winning:  This is the third preliminary injunction granted by federal judges against Trump’s use of the wartime law in a court’s district.

Just like his last term in office, the loser just keeps on losing.

Loved this recent quote on why he wants to "reopen" Alcatraz:

Well, I guess I was supposed to be a movie maker. We're talking—we started with the movie making and will end. I mean, it—it represents something very strong, very powerful in terms of law and order. Our country needs law and order. Alcatraz is, uh, I would say, the ultimate, right? Alcatraz. Sing Sing and Alcatraz. Eh, the movies. But, uh, it's right now a museum, believe it or not, a lot of people go there. It housed the, uh, most violent criminals in the world, and nobody ever escaped. One person almost got there. But they, as you know the story, they found his clothing rather badly ripped up. And, uh, it was a lot of shark bites, lot of, a lot of problems. Nobody's ever escaped from Alcatraz. And just represented something, uh, strong having to do with law and order. We need law and order in this country. And so we're going to, uh, look at it. Some of the people up here are going to be working very hard on that. And, uh, we had a little conversation. I think it's going to be very interesting. We'll see if we can, uh, bring it back in large form, add a lot. But I think it represents something. Right now it's, uh, a big hunk that sitting there rusting and rotting, uh, very, uh, you look at it, it's sort of a [unintelligible]. You saw that picture that was put out. It's sort of amazing. But it sort of represents something that's both horrible and beautiful and strong and miserable. Weak. It's got a lot of, it's got a lot of qualities that are interesting. And I think they, they make a point. Okay.

This is a short clip of former President Biden, interviewed by the BBC for a 30 minute event. His first public interview since President Trump picked up the reins.

The whole 30 minute interview was very interesting - the final sum up of the the interview was former President Biden describing the world as undergoing an inflection point, where fundamental change is underway  (I’m paraphrasing my takeaway point)

It is the same interview, but I just think the video quality is downgraded. The interview is the one I watched on the BBC. I agree your second point.

This is an interesting study on critical thinking and the relationship to pseudo-profound bullshit.

Seriously? It's true that dumbshits can be conned into believing even what harms them more than their intended victims? Finally I feel enlightened! I do so hope that scholars Geraldy Sepúlveda-Páez, Marcelo Leiva-Bianchi, Rodrigo Ferrer-Urbina, Javier Escudero-Pastén, and Fabiola Salas received extra cookies with their PhD's.

Somebody else already wrote the book.

What do you mean?

It’s just really quiet on SC. I’m traveling right now, so posting less. And, yes, getting tired of the uproar. Normalization of chaos.

Enjoy your travels.

Yes only so much madness you can take.

There used to be a UK news segment published by one of the mobile providers called weird news. It published articles like “man bites dog” and other real news that was whacky. That’s essentially become mainstream news these days.

No need to read The Onion any more.

My son and I just finished streaming a new Netflix series called Zero Day; it’s a political chaos show, but in it the leadership is more reasonable. But they pretty much throw every modern political chaos ingredient in. Well acted, Robert DeNiro is the star

“So many people want me to do a third term. It's something that, to the best of my knowledge, you're not allowed to do. I don't know if that's constitutional that they're not allowing you to do it or anything else,"

Its totally right that there’s just too much shit to actually pick out anything uniquely crazy. It’s Bannon’s Trump 1 ‘flood the zone with bullshit’ strategy turned up to eleven hundred. And really serious shit happens in the meantime. Actively looking at suspending habeas corpus gets barely an eyeroll. The ultra-racist and cartoonishly DEI* policy of actively inviting middle class white South Africans as asylum seekers while banning damn near anyone else from anywhere in the world no matter what’s just elicits an eyeroll and a sigh. But who can actually pick what stands out enough to post?

* Literally the fake version of DEI that Republicans created so they could attack it is what Trump is doing.

Problem with saying one word to Trump is that he'll say it back to you a week later and claim he invented it.

"Equalizing - it's a brand new word I came up with and it's probably the best word..."
