Phil1111 1,149 #1 Posted June 4, 2024 (edited) Biden is now ordering the US, Mexico border to be closed for immigration when it passes 2500 a day. With certain small exceptions for unaccompanied minors etc. I think its a good idea. But hiring more immigration judges, lawyers etc. Should be a part of it. i.e Speed up the entire immigration process and introduce better legislation. Isn't this hypocrisy given its part of the FOX, Trump, republican core values? Edited June 4, 2024 by Phil1111

Isn't this hypocrisy given its part of the FOX, Trump, republican core values? It'll get votes at not much cost, seems to me. The trick will be in the spin: Mexico's nice, lot's of Americans retire there. Also Costa Rica and Panama. In the real world, I had some good quality dental work done in Panama at a great price, there are beaches and played right the cost of living is a lot less than the US. Ice cold beers are a buck each at Carnival which is great value at free. Of course, those countries have gun violence, crime, corrupt politicians and insensitivities to certain social groups. You know just like here in America. So I'm okay with serious restrictions and even repatriation. We need immigrants, absolutely, but we don't need a free for all. Alternatively we can take a page from Mexicos policy and let everyone cross in but then bus them all to a fun welcoming in Canada.

Thats the rub. Canada is ahead of America in immigration legislation. It signed a treaty with the US a couple years ago where immigrants can't enter from the US if they enter another "safe" country first, i.e. the US. Thanks America. You're behind the times, son, those are now Best Intentions Treaties. Think how cool it will be to have a hundred food carts along the Assiniboine and Red rivers. Tacos, Arepas, you name it. Yum! I wish. Winnipeg has only a small number of Mexican restaurants. I pine for Carne Asada. Edited June 4, 2024 by gowlerk
