billvon 3,116 #102 July 15 Today 12% of the US is under a "high heat danger" warning. Another 20% of the US is under a flood warning, and 8% of that is under a "high risk" flood warning. And this is just the beginning.
BIGUN 1,483 #103 July 17 I watched a video this morning of a Tornado in Nebraska. Most tornadoes occur in May & June. 50 years ago; Oklahoma was known as Tornado alley since most occured here. Over that time I've noticed the geographic expansion across several states. Don't know if anyone has ever seen an F3-5 tornado in person. I've seen two F5s each 1/2 mile wide - it was no less than intimidating. This expanding footprint, increased number & frequency of high F tornados, should cause us concern. https://www.accuweather.com/en/severe-weather/tornado-alley-has-been-expanding-over-the-past-50-years-new-study-finds/1657774

GeorgiaDon 380 #105 July 17 Southern Ontario has seen a sharp increase in numbers of tornadoes in recent years. I really dislike those maps that cut off at the US border. It's not like the weather (or climate) stop at the border.

Thankfully republicans are not concerned about any of this. "Just 12% of Republicans and Republican leaners say dealing with climate change should be a top priority for the president and Congress, according to a January 2024 survey. For Republicans, dealing with climate change ranks last among the 20 issues included in the survey.... By contrast, 59% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say climate change should be a top priority for the president and Congress.... 57% of Republicans believe the U.S. should never stop using oil, coal and natural gas.... Overwhelming shares of Democrats who report experiencing extreme weather draw a connection to climate change, with most saying climate change contributed a lot to these events, rather than just a little." PEW March 2024 To be ignorant saves allot of worry.

Thankfully now FEMA won't have to be bothered with such events as they turn their focus on stopping all immigration.
