JoeWeber 2,933 #1 Posted April 10, 2023 Ya, buddy, with the New XM5 Assault Rifle and the new XM157 Fire Control System you'll be able to shoot around any pesky farmers and right into that prairie dog with every shot! Just imagine, sport fans, you'll be able to responsibly exercise your second amendment rights from the safety of a tall building over one-half mile away. What could possibly go wrong?

normiss 891 #3 April 14, 2023 We should start naming them after schools. Or maybe ask the ER doctors to name them based on the combat wounds on the children being sacrificed. Yay. America.

Do you think your average school shooter went with the AR-15 because of the ejection system or the 5.56 round? Nope, not a chance. And when they get a MCX Spear in .277 Fury or 6.5 Creedmoor it won't be owing to their own determination that one action or cartridge is the better, it'll be because too many gun nuts who should know better have mythologized the damn thing in popular gun magazines. Perhaps, as for the other several million of us, it is because they are accurate, lightweight, modular, ergonomic, inexpensive (can be) easy to shoot and enjoy huge aftermarket support.

kleggo 145 #7 April 14, 2023 interesting article in Sundays NYT (from an avid hunter) who postulates that some / many AR15 owners do so for "lifestyle" reasons and might take the place of other hobbies like darkroom photography or wrenching on cars. I fired m16's a few times in USMC decades ago. I don't need to relive that lifestyle.

Allow any new/cool military weapon to be sold to civilians - but require a picture of Dylan Mulvaney to be engraved on the barrel. Problem solved. Thanks for keeping us up to date on the goings on in the motherland, Comrade.
