Tight back

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I did my first two jumps yesterday and I ACHE everywhere :)

Can anyone advise me on some exercises for really tight back? I've got muscles aching in places I never new I had places :)

We're grounded by weather today, but I'm hoping to get up again tomorrow, so I don't want things to totally sieze up on me.

Thanks in advance :)

During everyday activity the body is not subjected to bending backward like we do during a skydive for stability. Stretching your muscules stretched out and getting them in shape for a comfortable arch is something you needed to do before hand, but you probably weren't told to do so and had no idea.
Below is a picture of someone stretching and getting his back used to being in that arching position. There are alot of other muscules that need to be stretched also for skydiving, but sometimes all the muscules cant be targeted while on the ground and just getting in the air often will develope them. ;)

Make sure your stretching does not pull a muscule that has tensed up on you. Since your muscules have tightened up from never being used, start streching VERY slowly making sure not to over stretch and injure it, and take Advil to help relieve some pain.

Hope this helps.

It will take about a week after your last jump, but make sure you bring it along when you come and train with me or we'll have to get you another one..... B|

I think I may have found a cure for the smile. Be grounded for the second day in a row because of weather, but more importantly, be sitting at the DZ an hour after I was supposed to meet my instructors here, pirating bandwidth.

It would be nice to know if we´re binning the day so that I can get on with life, rather than sit here waiting for people or a phone call.

Grrr.

I´ll take you up on that offer to get a new smile :) I´ll sort out my trip to Lodi tonight and let you have the details shortly.
