Give it a try and see where you are .. . https://www.politicalcompass.org/test

Be honest and post your results.

This is me - https://www.politicalcompass.org/yourpoliticalcompass?ec=-1.0&soc=-1.38

I didn't really like how many of the questions were worded - there should have been more than 4 options.

The wording many times spoke of things in absolute terms, I assume that was to test your acceptance of authoritarianism.

Here's me.  I thought it would put me closer to authoritarianism since most of my responses supported control of trade and companies but I guess my answers about personal freedoms countered that.

I suppose you might imagine my surprise to be in the green.

^.^^.^^.^

Here I am -- no real surprise. Yeah, some of the questions were stupid, but they make it clear that's deliberate to see how extremely you fit into a quadrant.

I'm there as well. Although when I see the Libertarian nutjob ideas of Rand Paul it makes me question the survey. Prior to trump I was likely the same distance to the right of the centerline. I have moved farther to the left in the last three yeas that the previous fifty.

Hmmmm...I find it strange that we are more closely related in our political beliefs.

Come on. I detect we need double blind testing protocols. i.e. where open ended no win questions are asked involving money and lives.

Riiight - Hillary Clinton is Right of Trump and Markel

I am surprised they're showing Clinton to be that far to the fiscal right. Would be interesting to know what policies it is based on.

Not as surprised that Trump is closer to the centre, after all a large part of his campaign was built on promises of massive public spending, but then what he says and what he does are always different, and oftentimes what he says and what he says next are so wildly different it's a bit of a fools errand to try and pin him down on anything. Would have been more interesting to have GWB up there.

I had to suit up every Sunday morning and my dad used to whip me with his belt.

Same here, just that Dad did not always use just the belt. Until I punched back. In regards to Sunday AND being hit as a child for that matter.

I was just being a smart ass in mocking those areas of the questions. ;)

To be honest I don't think many of those that self identify as fiscal right (or many people in general) quite grasp how far right the entire world has swung in the modern era of globalisation and instant communication. The sheer scale of wealth inequality is beyond what anyone can picture or put into context. I think Oliver Stone said when he made Wall Street 2 that everyone still looks back at the '80s as this heyday of corporate greed gone mad and insane rewards for simply shifting money around but while the top brokers back then were making hundreds of millions, today the top fund managers are making tens of billions and we've all become normalised to it.

Like if you present hypothetical situations such as miniscule effective tax rates for hyper-rich, staggering executive bonuses for short termist behaviour and massive golden parachutes on top when the companies fail as a result - if you don't tell people that the examples are real then pretty much everyone identifies them as unacceptable.

A true conservative doesn't believe in tariffs or protected domestic industries. They believe in free markets. As do I. They don't believe in deficit spending, they are fiscally conservative.
