Guest #1 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) So I'm playing computer games as a way to pass some of the time during C-19. Gaming is something I seldom do anymore. The first one is very cool, in my opinion and it's not a game, but is instead a simulator: Reentry. It's available on Steam for about US$30 and has a very high amount of fidelity to actual spacecraft of the moon race: Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. The sim/game is still in development but is being constantly updated. In trying to fly the LM one develops an appreciation for how complex the vehicle was and what a challenge it was to fly. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin proved that NASA had chosen them well. I'm hoping for a VR version of this to eventually show up. Next is Black Mesa, which is the original Half-Life game from 1998, fully updated with lovely graphics.Gameplay is the same, except for Xen. It's gorgeous, but I have lived through Gordon Freeman's eyes so many times that it's somewhat anticlimactic, even if he is from Seattle. Available for free if you look outside Steam, otherwise it's $10 from Steam itself. Last is Garry's Mod. It's certainly not new but it's got a huge number of add-ons in addition to the original material. It's entirely possible (if one has the patience) to build one's own story-level in the Half-Life universe, or possibly an entire stand-alone game. However, "Half-Life: Alyx" notwithstanding, it's just fun to play in the Valve sandbox. For example, I set up whole platoons of rebels versus Combine and turned them loose to duke it out (Combine always wins unless they are seriously outnumbered). Some sick pups have added NUKES to Garry's Mod and that is totally freaky. I bought Garry's Mod directly from Steam for $10.
