I was hoping the meaning would be 'victories for democracy', just poorly worded. If it's really meant as 'victories for Democrat policies' that's kind of ok, but 'political victories for the Democrats' would be extremely crass. Phil1111 1,183 #27 March 28, 2020 Under Intense Criticism, Trump Says Government Will Buy More Ventilators 'In total, the conference tabulated that cities needed 28.5 million face masks, 24.4 million other items of personal protection equipment, 7.9 million test kits and 139,000 ventilators.... Roughly two-thirds of the cities said they had not received any emergency equipment or supplies from their state, the report said. And of those that did receive state aid, nearly 85 percent said it was not enough to meet their needs. He was essentially ordering the company to do something it had already arranged to do: G.M. announced earlier on Friday that it was moving forward with an emergency joint venture with a small manufacturer, Ventec Life Systems, even in the absence of a contract from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. ' If it wasn't for " a torrent of criticism from cities and states that have been pleading for help to deal with the most critically ill coronavirus victim " trump would have done nothing. Just like he told his paymasters at FOX the night before. Furthermore another lie was added for trump's FOX town hall. Trump’s Misleading Ventilator Counter-Punch at Cuomo "Cuomo said at a press conference on March 24 that the state had an urgent need for more ventilators to deal with an anticipated peak in demand in two weeks for patients needing help to breathe. The state will need at least 30,000 ventilators, he said, and it so far had obtained 7,000.... Trump added that in 2015 Cuomo “refused to order 15,000 ventilators” so “he shouldn’t be talking about us.” Reading from an article on a conservative website, Trump said Cuomo “rejected buying recommended 16,000 ventilators in 2015 for a pandemic” and that he “established death panels and lotteries instead.” Which was a lie of course. See the above "Factcheck" story.

The upshot is that NY State, in projecting what the need for ventilators would be in a 1918-style pandemic, decided they could need up to 16,000 more ventilators. Deciding that was an outlier, they bought 2000 more, and also planned (with hospitals, and as suggestions, not mandates) for triage if such an outlier pandemic happened. Well, it happened. Katrina wasn't going to happen either. Shit happens; that asteroid could still strike earth and make this last couple of months completely moot. Wendy P. Without derailing this thread completely. The Murdoch clan has a well established track record of blatant lies for the benefit of big business and their political allies. Here are some stories from Australia regarding the outright propaganda. That the Murdoch media empire uses to spread outright lies in the guise of "journalism". As Australia burns, it's Murdoch versus Murdoch on climate change A story on how Rupert's own son tried to expose the Murdoch media's own lies on climate change. To no avail. Its not like one of the trump sons would have a neuron of integrity. Rupert Murdoch says 'there are no climate change deniers around' News Corp News Corp is the name of the Murdoch Media empire(FOX included). "Bolt, a political commentator and blogger for News Corp Australia, is known for promoting the views of climate science deniers, and for his own attacks on “alarmists” and his derision of climate change science. Bolt also has a nightly show on Sky News where he often interviews guests who reject that humans cause climate change." Australia’s fires are a climate reckoning for the Murdoch press A story from the Columbia Journalism Review of the " That hasn’t stopped an onrush of disinformation attempting to deny the climate link. There’s the online bilge—photoshopped images, old footage masquerading as new, unverified rumors. Much of it is coordinated: research by Timothy Graham, an academic at Queensland University of Technology, found that a group of automated social-media accounts has spread misleading reports exaggerating the role of arson in the fires and downplaying that of climate change. And then there’s irresponsible journalism, for which nobody gets more credit than Rupert Murdoch." The bias and outright lies from the Murdoch Media empire are exposed as systematic in this story. Just too bad that FOX is omitted. I'm sure analysis of how it contributed to the coverup of the C-19, trump fiasco will be coming in the future.
