What brazen crooks they are

Why do you people make ridiculous comparisons?

Because you're ridiculous. Insider trading is illegal and it hurts honest investors. You think it's ok because the perpetrators make a profit and therefore are winners. Trump screwing his contractors out of payments and self dealing from his charities is illegal, and hurts honest business associates and donors. You think it's ok because he's making a profit and therefore is a winner. Nigerian scams are illegal and hurt innocent people, but you think it's not ok because... why? What's the difference? The perpetrators are simply following the profit motive, and are winning.

Well, his point at the time was that insider trading was already illegal and why do we need another law to single out congressmen.

Which is odd, since at the time congress was singled out as exempt from existing insider trading laws. So they did need another law.

thought it was wise financial management to dump a stock if it starts losing. I should have dumped Ford several years ago, but, no I had to maintain faith.

Not the only thing you should have dumped long ago except that you value reason, logic, archeological evidence, geologic evidence and on and on and on less than you value faith. "I had to maintain faith."  You didn't have to, Ron, that's a cop out that gives you a pass for bad decision making. I actually find it unsettling that you have a counseling credential but are so utterly ignorant about human nature. Your own, especially.

Wow.  You actually do believe that you know better than anyone else.

Walk a mile in the man’s shoes, then, maybe you will be qualified to judge him like you do.

Typically a judge looks at the havoc that was wrought by those shoes. Passing judgment doesn't require duplicating in whole or in part, those same crimes and felonious actions.

Take trump as an example. His voters didn't have to steal from charities in order to vote for him. His apparatchiks didn't have to defraud students in order to applaud him. His apologists didn't have to become sociopathic in order to understand the damage he is doing to America. They just had to mark those ballots.

Is everything in your life as intertwined with your hatred of Trump as your mind is?

No I was thinking, musing, about who is going to overhaul the republican party after trump is gone. Mitt Romney is the only one that came to immediate mind. The only republican left with a conscious.

Unfortunately, the judging going on here is very atypical.  It Is based mostly on bias, from what I have witnessed.

I know what it is called and I know it is illegal. First it has to be proven, innocent until proven and all that.

Cool, so you now acknowledge that the Clintons are 100% innocent.

Richard Burr Wondering When Profiting Off Mass Suffering Suddenly Became A Crime In This Country

WASHINGTON—Admitting he was blindsided by the hysterical reaction to a pretty normal transaction, North Carolina Senator Richard Burr wondered Friday when profiting off mass suffering had suddenly become a crime in this country. “Jesus Christ, when did everyone get so uptight about this? I remember when we used to celebrate people who used their talent and connections to get rich from death and anguish,” said Burr, who claimed what he did was no different than what many successful, patriotic Americans have been doing for hundreds of years. “Even Tucker Carlson is being a little bitch about this. What’s the big deal? Didn’t we all decide this was cool in the 2008 recession? Last time I checked, using sensitive information to enrich yourself at the expense of hundreds of millions of other people was totally fine. I talked to Kelly [Loeffler] and Ron [Johnson] about cashing out, and nobody even batted an eye. What’s the point of being a senator if you can’t profit off the world’s problems? I’m making money, not losing it, but I guess jealous people have decided that becoming rich and powerful from a national tragedy is suddenly evil. There’s something seriously wrong with this country.” At press time, Burr announced his intentions to resign after shamefully admitting he only pulled in a 22% return from his insider trading.

Good. But he's awful at math, too. I added up 31%. If you don't know how much you're stealing you need to resign and make way for better people.

He should have dumped long ago because at his age his exposure to the equity market should be rather minor.

Maybe true for most, but if you have a lot of assets, I would still invest them where they have historically provided the best return.  If losing 30% would noticeably affect your continuing retirement, then less stock exposure would be prudent.  I reduced my stock allocation from ~96% to ~34% since the first of the year, but will likely double that in a year or two when the market looks better.
