Seems as though some here don't like Sandman's life style, doesn't it?

Looks like you simply cannot grasp that there is a difference between not liking somebody for what they choose and not liking somebody for what they don't have a choice in.

Also looks like you don't understand what a lifestyle is.

I also believe you don't want to understand.

So, what you are implying is that you don't like those people, as people, because of your perception of them?

That's called bigotry, isn't it, or is it simply prejudice?

There are reasons you can dislike people. Disagreeing with any choice of any person doesn’t necessarily make you a bigot. I’d have thought that was obvious. I’d imagine you’re not disposed to think fondly of anyone who joins Antifa, for example, but I wouldn’t call you a bigot because of it.

The gay thing is different though. Why are you prejudiced against gay people?

OR - Perhaps your assumptions are wrong.

Why do you keep posting loaded questions?

I won't take them seriously.

Maybe, if you are posting things you do not actually believe. Otherwise they are fully supported by what you have posted here. If you are just trolling, then indeed my assumptions are wrong.

Where’s the loading? You’ve explicitly said you’re prejudiced against gay people, I’m just asking why.

<Facepalm> No.  I did not.

I said I did not agree with some life style choices.

Why are you so obsessed with me and my disagreement with a certain way of fashion decisions, when you seem to get entirely too overly bent out of shape about a minor wearing a hat you don't agree with?

You don't agree with how some gay people dress.....that is the way you walk it back?

That's beyond weak.

I'm not walking anything back.

You are just hell bent on trying to prove your assumptions.

Your assumptions are wrong.

It's time to give it up.

You said you disagree with their lifestyle choices. That’s a prejudice against all gay people. You also refuse to explain why you disagree with the gay lifestyle choice, which suggests you know it.

Fashion decisions? What on earth are you talking about?

You’re confused. I didn’t offer any opinion about hat guy.

Right, because they don't like hardcore Trump supporting activists. Why don't you like gay people?

Apologies - I read this as you agreed with "They".

???  That's how everyone - me included - makes decisions on people.  And you could call it prejudice if you wanted to stretch the meaning of the term - but it generally works.  (Prejudice generally means a pre-judgement based on an irrational bias, not just the fact that you are judging them ahead of their performance or getting to know them better.)

For example, I once interviewed a guy who had a great resume, and talked a good game.  But when I got to asking him technical questions, he couldn't answer any of them.  Couldn't draw the answers on a whiteboard, couldn't even get to first principles.  My perception of him was, despite his claims, he wasn't a very good engineer.

Likewise, I once listened to a talk by a co-worker who made an offhand comment during the talk that women shouldn't be engineers.  Someone asked him about it, and he started in on some theory he had on how they were biologically suited to be mothers before the organizer stopped him.  Based on my perception of him after that I decided I didn't like him.

The problem arises when you base your judgments purely on something that is unrelated to his role or his job (like his skin color, in 99.999+% of the cases out there.)

I don't disagree.

But, I'll ask you as I have been asked -

Why do you hate the "Not so good engineer"? or Why do you hate the misogynist?

I haven’t seen anyone accusing you of hating gay people. You’re probably projecting, since one of your favourite tactics is accusing anyone who disagrees with or dislikes Trump of hating him. But that doesn’t mean that everyone else is doing the same thing to you.

Not so good engineers have a tendency to create not so good or not so safe products, which historically have had a tendency to kill and injure people.

On the whole it's better to hire good engineers and pay them accordingly.  The not so good ones should go into  journalism or real estate.

You'll get no argument from me on this.

Full marks Kallend!!!  Your are finally speaking like a free market capitalist.

On a side note, I am into real estate (owning not selling) and my wife, a journalism major, is now the VP of marketing and communications for a billion dollar drug research and manufacturing company and we are making WAY more than the typical "good engineer" so it might be wise not to disparage lines of work you do not understand.
