bahahahaha

yobnoc, brother, I'm trying to take this as seriously as it deserves. If aborting you is what happens then I'll need to see into a license and proper facilities, although I'm guessing hygiene won't be an issue. So that's good. Then there's the issue of your second soul and what to do with it once you won't be needing it. I suppose I can just give it to Goodwill but then how do I get it there? An igloo cooler? I just don't know. Google hasn't been any help but maybe Duck Duck Go is aware of these things.

Abort me, daddy!

You also are missing the point. Rejection of Christ after being born-again is not the same as rejecting the idea of being born-again.

Yes, I get it. It's just like a gang or the mob. Once you are in there is no out except by death. It's also the same as Islamic custom. Being born again is simply accepting an extremist ideology and joining with the other extremists.

Now, that's a visual.

30 minutes into the new day, my second attempt at a clickage on the heart I get:

Sorry, you cannot add any more reactions today.

WTAF. I have no emotions available for public display.

Howard Christ.

Anyway....I tried to like your comment. That's funny shit.

No worries. I'm in negotiations to buy 200 of BillVons green merits. Not that he needs them, mind you.

The phrase "born again" gets used a lot and with different meanings; perhaps you could clarify what your definition of this nonsensical term is.

To be born-again is to become a new creature, a new person in Christ Jesus. The phenomenon or epiphany occurs when you confess that you are a sinner and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. This can only occur when you realize, without doubt, that you are lost and eternally condemned. At that moment Jesus gives you the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide you through the remainder of your existence as a mortal. That is when you become born-again.

It is a wonderfully exciting experience.

In my case, He showed me each of my sinful actions and forgave each one. I literally experienced the wiping clean of my slate.

It is a supernatural experience and cannot be recreated scientifically. However, the experience can be shared and confirmed by other Christians.

It's sounds a lot like an acid trip.

Like an acid trip at Burning Man.  "Until you've done it you can't understand.  The experience can only be shared and confirmed by other burners.  Until then, you are living your life asleep."  (Actually heard a speech like that once.)

The difference is that an acid trip at Burning Man wears off and must be repeated to duplicate the effect. Being born-again does not wear off.

That is why I stated that to reject it after it has happened to you requires some seriously evil ritual(s).

Or you simply forget the silly nonsense ritual that you wasted time on, and happily move on with life like all other humans on the planet.

Including those that chose a different flavor of make belief, and those that have been fortunate enough to have never been exposed to any religious garbage.

No re-charge, no repeats, no money. Just living life and not celebrating death.

Those feelings are usually called “ flash backs”.

Oh isn't that convenient?

Most of the protestant types refer to getting baptized as being "born again."

You take it to a whole different level.

One that can't be confirmed by anyone else who doesn't have your super secret decoder ring.

Again: how incredibly convenient that you, Ron, are the arbiter of what makes a christian a true christian.

As stated before, God respects your dignity and freedom to choose. So do I. When your physical body dies you will be granted your heart's desire.

Over thirty-eight years now and it has not been a ritual nor has it been a waste. Not by a long shot.

God does nothing for me. Or anyone else for that matter.

Oh, that's not true. He does lots of things for lots of people.

He provides justification for all sorts of behaviors. Mostly good, but also some really horrific stuff too.

He provides strength and comfort in times of distress. Or at least some people believe he does, and so it helps.

The list goes on and on.
When I embarked on a search for God a few years back, I slowly realized that there are a lot of really good reasons to believe in God. NONE of them require God to actually exist. Just the belief.

One other thing that God really did well is to tell each and every separate civilization a different origin story. Lots of civilizations (and their belief structure) are deriviative. So the Roman Gods bear a strong resemblence to the Greek ones. Judeism begat Christianity, which further begat Islam, so there's a lot of overlap there.
But look at Pagan beliefs, or Eastern (Asian) ones. Or Native beliefs from the Americas. Apparently God has enough of a sense of humor to tell each group a different story, so that when the groups came together, there would be endless strife.

Either that or each group simply made up a good story to explain stuff they couldn't otherwise figure out (God of the Gaps).

Not per several of the Burners I talked to.  It changed their life forever.  Let them see behind the facade of corporate blah blah blah and embrace positivity and whatnot.  If it works for them, great.  If Christianity works for you - also great!

Yeah I can't remember who the joke is attributed to, but it's something like:

Religion is like a penis.  There's nothing wrong with having one; you can even be proud of it!  But the moment you go wagging it in mine or my kids' faces, we're gonna have a problem.

So basically you can do whatever you want for the majority of your life. Be a womanizer, killer, thief, whatever, but as long as you say the right hocus-pocus everything will be fine.

Too funny. If I were to believe in a deity I would believe that deity to prefer a kind atheist over a mean believer.
