US official promotes abortion

Recommended Posts

An NBC News article that is sure to make right wingers experience a bit of whiplash:

" . . . a Honduran migrant who is eight months pregnant and was returned to Mexico in August said while she was detained in the U.S. a woman in uniform told her “she should abort her baby because ‘Trump didn’t want there to be any more pregnant people here.’” The woman said she has had no prenatal care in Mexico, according to the ACLU."

To play devil's advocate, the issue isn't about targeting pregnant asylum seekers but not giving them preferential treatment (aka, acknowledgement of their medical risks and basic dignity as humans).  Trump's people should like this because it's broadcasting to the world that we're not going to let women in just because they're pregnant.

Prenatal care was closer to her in Honduras than hiking to our southern border and seeking it illegally.

So...you are aware that medical care is never illegal, right?  The whole "Do no harm" thing?  Hippocratic oath and all?

I suppose the good christian thing to do would be to let her die because she crossed a made-up line between two pieces of dirt though.  Good call.

There's also the very simple fact that people who present themselves at the border to apply for asylum are NOT here illegally.

The application for asylum/refugee status is the beginning of the process to become a legal resident. Once that application is made, they are not 'illegal aliens'.

The xenophobes & bigots tend to ignore that.

Hi Joe,

Those facts are such pesky things.

PS)  And thanks for reminding people who should know but seem to not know.
