For the third time: Trump posted this photoshopped image of himself. Are you cool with that? But also, given that you know he has zero skills beyond finding the Fox and Friends channel, how does it sit with you that someone did it for him? Are you frightened that our President so thinks and is so advised? And just for reference, .17 C is also 273.32 Kelvin. But really, for those of us challenged by the metric system, isn't Fahrenheit a better way to go? Not that I'm opposed to fucking around with someone who graduated with an engineering degree from MIT with Honors, mind you. brenthutch 444 #228 December 5, 2019 (edited) Trump is an idiot. Full stop. I have said it several times. I have even equated his intellect to that of an earthworm. I posted that Trump is a dumb man's idea of a smart man, a weak man's idea of a strong man and a poor man's idea of a rich man. Given your notion of me, with regard to my world view, it is not surprising that you would pigeonhole me as a Trump supporter. Your bad, not mine. You need to get out more. BTW what does "how does it sit with you that some enableC did it for him? Are you frightened that our President so thinks and is so advised" even mean? All are OK; we just have to settle on one & have everybody use it. Personally, I prefer Celsius as I think it is simpler to understand for the non-technical types. The first time, I wrote in Mickey Mouse (because I couldn't spell Condoleezza Rice and thought that a fictional cartoon rodent would make a better choice than either candidate) but Trump has delivered on taxes, fossil fuels, deregulation, judicial appointments and confronting China. So you are not a Trump supporter but you love his policies and thus, regardless of the fact he's an absolute idiot who shreds the constitution daily, embarrasses our nation on the world stage, abandons our allies who are fighting hot wars and cold, defies the rule of law, and has by any measure has made us less safe you will be forced to vote for him? And all because you believe money he gave to the super wealthy will trickle down to you, fossil fuels will be ascendant again, nasty regulations that protect the environment and your fellow citizens health are being erased, he has made awesome judicial appointments which are all but guaranteed to erode the rights of women and the LGBTQ community and he also confronted China? Who, by the by, just happen to be kicking his ass around the South China Sea and aren't too impressed with his trade war. But what the hell, because of his $28 Billion in Farm Subsides none of which will ever be paid back, farm income is doing great. Clearly, when he claimed "I Could Stand In the Middle Of Fifth Avenue And Shoot Somebody And I Wouldn't Lose Any Voters" he was thinking of folks like you. CygnusX-1 43 #238 December 5, 2019 Wow, just wow! (According to the article) I didn't realize I'm part of the "uber-wealthy". Maybe I should put that on my dz.com profile. Quote It’s an expensive write-off that mostly benefits the uber-wealthy, who buy electric cars as status symbols and tokens of environmental consciousness... I stopped reading pretty much after that sentence. Oh that and the link posted above wanted me to click another link to read the full column. As a matter of principal I never do that. But seriously, the author does not know what he is talking about especially now (one year later). I did not buy my car because of some "environmental consciousness", although that is a nice side issue/benefit. I bought it because it was by far the best vehicle in its segment for real world (on-the-road) driving. That is why Teslas are better than other cars out there. Acceleration is fantastic. I love being first at a stop light and when the light turns green and flooring it until you get to 60 or 70 MPH. And then there is no one around you until all the speeders catch up to you. Handling is good enough. I mean really, how often do you need to go around a curve with a posted speed of 45 MPH and you are going 70+ where the added performance would make a difference? Autopilot - while still needs work - is making improvements to make your life easier. And getting updates at least once a month if not more that adds more functionality to the vehicle - all for free. And for the record, I do not think Brent is an idiot, dense, or whatever. I feel he is misguided in his beliefs with regard to the environment. And that is fine, I would bet he thinks that about me too. Unfortunately, if one of us is wrong that has dire consequences for the world as we know it today. If the other of us is wrong, I don't see there being any lasting effects to that decision.

The Model S and X are for the weathly, but the not the model 3 which is selling as well as many mainstream cars, and yes the idea of them as only status symbols is long gone. I saw a mention of the fact that Jim Cramer, who has long predicted the Tesla's imminent demise, has recently decided to buy a Tesla Model X. He is wealthy sure, but for him to buy one as a status symbol is ridiculous. From his tweet, he and his wife just really liked the car after driving it. wolfriverjoe 1,523 #240 December 5, 2019 Kinda funny that it's a 'Tea Party' site. They have pretty much died off from terminal hypocrisy. It's also a year old. Touting the 'end' of the Chevy Volt. While it true the Volt was discontinued, it was replaced by the Bolt. So the implication that GM is abandoning the electric car is absolutely false. The statement that EVs are only for the 'uber-wealthy' is also a clear falsehood. The Bolt is marketed as a 'normal' car, in the sub $30k price range. Sooooo... Cherry picking facts. Misleading and outdated articles. All of which 'prove' the exact opposite of what is claimed.

I will seriously be considering the Tesla cybertruck for my next vehicle in 4 or 5 years. IF they can get the 500 mile range they claim and hopefully change the stupid name it seems like a decent option. The utility of a pickup with the cabin that fits my whole family, a range better than my Audi and an acceleration that beats anything but a hypercar. Sounds too good to be true, but worth keeping an eye on. Edited December 6, 2019 by yoink

Rick 67 #243 December 6, 2019 I got this in a news feed this morning. Looks like some good job creation in the electric vehicle industry. Yesterday, GM and South Korea’s LG Chem said they’re investing $2.3 billion in a landmark electric vehicle battery cell plant that will employ more than 1,100 people in Ohio. And Lucid Motors, a Cali-based electric vehicle (EV) startup, broke ground this week on a $300+ million factory in Arizona that’s expected to generate 4,800 jobs. Of course the trade off is some jobs lost in gas vehicle production.
