Joe I have been to places and seen things that you can not even imagine.  I don't hold that against you because you have no frame of reference other than your comical notion of the military.  FYI my military interaction with other countries was with their terrain, my interactions with the civilian population was primarily civilian on civilian.  When I got to my first duty station, my team members forced me to take Italian language courses and spend my first several paycheck on Italian clothes.  We respected and adapted to the local language, customs, dress, and cuisine.  Same goes with everywhere else I have been.  My wife won an executive committee reward trip to the Bahamas, we stayed at the Atlantis resort, it was the closest thing to hell I could have imagined.  I like to, keep my mouth shut, listen, and immerse myself in the local culture. 

BTW say hi to all of the slave labor you are taking advantage of.

Hi Joe,

As one of those engineers, I studied Rankine, Kelvin, Celsius & Fahrenheit.

All are OK; we just have to settle on one & have everybody use it.

Personally, I prefer Celsius as I think it is simpler to understand for the non-technical types.

I stopped reading pretty much after that sentence. Oh that and the link posted above wanted me to click another link to read the full column. As a matter of principal I never do that. But seriously, the author does not know what he is talking about especially now (one year later). I did not buy my car because of some "environmental consciousness", although that is a nice side issue/benefit. I bought it because it was by far the best vehicle in its segment for real world (on-the-road) driving. That is why Teslas are better than other cars out there. Acceleration is fantastic. I love being first at a stop light and when the light turns green and flooring it until you get to 60 or 70 MPH. And then there is no one around you until all the speeders catch up to you. Handling is good enough. I mean really, how often do you need to go around a curve with a posted speed of 45 MPH and you are going 70+ where the added performance would make a difference? Autopilot - while still needs work - is making improvements to make your life easier. And getting updates at least once a month if not more that adds more functionality to the vehicle - all for free.

And for the record, I do not think Brent is an idiot, dense, or whatever. I feel he is misguided in his beliefs with regard to the environment. And that is fine, I would bet he thinks that about me too. Unfortunately, if one of us is wrong that has dire consequences for the world as we know it today. If the other of us is wrong, I don't see there being any lasting effects to that decision.

It's also a year old. Touting the 'end' of the Chevy Volt.

While it true the Volt was discontinued, it was replaced by the Bolt. 
So the implication that GM is abandoning the electric car is absolutely false. 
The statement that EVs are only for the 'uber-wealthy' is also a clear falsehood.

The Bolt is marketed as a 'normal' car, in the sub $30k price range.

IF they can get the 500 mile range they claim and hopefully change the stupid name it seems like a decent option.

The utility of a pickup with the cabin that fits my whole family, a range better than my Audi and an acceleration that beats anything but a hypercar.

Sounds too good to be true, but worth keeping an eye on.

Yesterday, GM and South Korea’s LG Chem said they’re investing $2.3 billion in a landmark electric vehicle battery cell plant that will employ more than 1,100 people in Ohio. And Lucid Motors, a Cali-based electric vehicle (EV) startup, broke ground this week on a $300+ million factory in Arizona that’s expected to generate 4,800 jobs.

 

Of course the trade off is some jobs lost in gas vehicle production.
