Just got done listening to the Alleghenie Front on my local NPR station, during a segment they call "Trump on Earth", they were discussing how a judge shut down "the administration's" decision to approve a Wyoming oil and gas lease by claiming insufficient consideration was given to climate change.  One small problem, it was Obama's administration NOT Trump's.  At what point does an omission become a lie.

(please let's not go down the "what about" rabbit hole)

I think a lot depends on the rest of the conversation that took place.

This was indeed a land lease sale that took place under Obama's Administration. However, the ruling greatly impacts the ability to open up a lot more land to exploration, which is something the current Administration is pushing for.

Ok, but your post pretty much IS the "what about" rabbit hole.

Well, it is kind of a dark time in the nation.  Makes sense that news organizations would echo that.

Interesting statement -

For whom are you assuming it is a dark time for?

And before you simply say a majority of Americans, you are then discounting a minority - and that isn't the liberal way.¬¬

Well, That is, I mean, until it is . . .

It's a dark time for everyone.

Except maybe for the KKK & American Nazis.

Bowing and scraping to murderous dictators, record deficits and debt just around the corner, a trade war that we are losing rather badly, destroying relationships with long-term allies (while, again, sucking up to murderous dictators), the list goes on and on.

The problem is that he has conned a lot of people into believing that what he's doing is good.

You are aware that Mike Godwin has said he's fine with suspending the rule in the case of Trump, right?
And you realize that calling actual Nazis Nazis, comparing people who openly admire Hitler to Hitler isn't the intent of it, right?

You do realize I said "Close" right?

As in "Not Quite There"?

Nope, not even close.  Godwin himself says so. From WaPo:

The creator of Godwin’s Law explains why some Nazi comparisons don’t break his famous Internet rule

August 14, 2017

Godwin’s Law, as every good Internet citizen knows, reads as follows: “As an online discussion continues, the probability of a reference or comparison to Hitler or Nazis approaches 1.” When Mike Godwin created it in 1990, he was trying to address the widespread phenomenon of glibly comparing someone else to Hitler or Nazis to win an online argument.

It’s one of the most invoked rules on the Internet to this day. But how does Godwin’s Law apply when you’re literally talking about Nazis?

Hundreds of white supremacists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members descended on Charlottesville this past weekend. One man, described as a Nazi sympathizer, is accused of plowing into a crowd of counterdemonstrators with his car, killing one woman and wounding several other people. And so a stranger asked Godwin to weigh in: When it comes to the white supremacists in Charlottesville, is it okay to compare what they believe and do to what the Nazis believed and did?

His reply was concise and unambiguous:

"By all means, compare these shitheads to Nazis, again and again.  I am with you."

He continued:

" . . Someone had reached out to me on Facebook, a person who was not in my Facebook network but who had basically looked me up and reached out to me, and asked whether it was appropriate to compare the white nationalists in Charlottesville to Nazis.  One of the reasons that people have ever paid attention to Godwin’s Law at all is that I have been very careful to avoid policing how people invoke it, or use it, or apply it, or misapply it, except in fairly rare circumstances. But this was a no-brainer."
