brenthutch 444 #2403 April 23, 2020 Ouch, it looks like I have struck a nerve. When BillV can only parrot SkyDekker, who is parroting click bait, I know I have made an impact.

olofscience 492 #2407 April 23, 2020 "climate change is real" and then he'll jump on the first article saying it isn't changing. Also interesting how he changed the topic when he got absolutely owned on the NOAA results for 2019.

He did at east recognize that we had an affect on the climate - Its a slow road - but its slowly working. Small moves, Ellie. Baby steps.

If you think the demonstrations last weekend were the 'people rebelling', I would strongly suggest taking a good look at who organized & promoted them. airdvr 210 #2413 April 23, 2020 Doesn't matter who organized and promoted. You don't think people will organize and promote against the climate change agenda? The only reason it's not happening now is it doesn't hurt yet. Kind of like the frog in the boiling water.

I gave a specific example, the urban heat island effect. You are the one who seems to think we can control the global climate. Again with all of the vitriolic PAs that video must have made a sting. As far as the NOAA prediction, NOAA concluded that 2019 was COOLER than it had been in the past. He shoots, he scores! Nearly 50 posts following my linking to the Earth Day documentary and still no one can talk about it. Fascinating Edited April 23, 2020 by brenthutch

The specific part you pointed out to me starts with the set-up of a strawman argument. If that was the most salient part of the video, the rest must be even bigger bullshit. So, never wasted time on it.

One of the other points was that Big Green has been co-opeted by and is in bed with, big banks, billionaires, oil and gas companies, and....get this.....the Koch brothers. Another point was all of the heavy industry required to manufacture "green tech", the bit on "how solar panels are made" was particularly enlightening. No doubt capitalism will co-opt climate change to make money. That is what capitalism does, that's how it works. There will definitely be companies offering "green" products with no motivation other than to make money. They may even make products that aren't green. However, that doesn't change any of the principles behind it. Humans have affected climate and humans can affect climate.
brenthutch 444 #2419 April 23, 2020 (edited) One of the main points was that "green" was anything but green, and in some instances was actually far worse than traditional fossil fuels and that most "green" energy came from burning trees, garbage and ethanol not wind and solar (by a long shot). Sea Surface Temperatures are 1-1.5°C higher than last year. That's from my own ships instruments and my proprietary scrawny ass-o-meter. Look for increased and more severe tropical storm activity in the Caribbean this year with continued climate change denial giving way to frequent I told you so's in Mifflin County, PA.
