billvon 3,119 #1 Posted March 2, 2019 Last night, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel went after Amy Klobuchar with the usual refrain of "socialism bad! Capitalism good!" She said this: “It’s going to be a choice. Are we going to want capitalism? Look at all the great achievements of our country: flight, cars, the Internet. Sorry, Al Gore. The Internet. None of that came from government. It came from innovation. It came from the greatness of America.” So McDaniel thinks that the Internet did not come from ARPANet. The socialist organization DARPA did not fund its initial development. It was not based on the work by socialist government employees Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn. The Internet itself was not invented by socialist (and Brit!) Tim Berners-Lee, working for the socialist organization CERN. The beloved villain of the right, Al Gore, didn't promote it. It will be fascinating to see who the far right thinks invented the Internet. Perhaps Donald Trump, or Ronald Reagan? Well, not Reagan. If he invented it while governor or president it would still be socialist.
Phil1111 1,183 #2 March 2, 2019 Why trump's War on Socialism Will Fail Like it or not, Mr. trump, many Americans embrace democratic socialism Capitalism If dems stay on message the voters who wanted change in their votes for trump will kick republicans to the curb. I didn't know that Benz, Daimler, Otto and Diesel were American. And it's kind of funny that aileron, fuselage, empennage, longeron, pitot . . . are French words and that Whittle was English. On a slightly different note, I found it both funny and pathetic how Pence went after the "Medicare For All" proposal. His previous lies about Medicare & Medicade expansion seem to not matter. Of course, none of the Trumpettes care about that.

Total revisionist nonsense, and I'm prepared to debate it with anyone interested. If anyone failed to receive appropriate credit, it was Ray Gosling (whom hardly anyone has ever heard of). OTOH, Jocelyn Bell really should have shared the prize for the discovery of the pulsar since she, and not Tony Hewish, made the discovery. https://scientificgems.wordpress.com/2016/11/28/raymond-gosling-forgotten-hero-of-dna/ Edited March 4, 2019 by kallend
