Republicans and veterans

Recommended Posts

The GOP shows its "respect" for veterans:

Trump: “He’s not a war hero … He’s a war hero ‘cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK?”

Trump supporter Thomas McInerney on FOX: "It worked on John [McCain]. That's why they call him 'Songbird John'"

Trump staffer Kelly Sadler on McCain's opposition to an appointment: "It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway."

Was this just a accidental comment? Apparently not.

White House communications director Mercedes Schlapp - “You can put this on the record ... I stand with Kelly Sadler."

To be at least somewhat fair:

1 - This isn't 'republicans', its "Trump and his minions'.

2 - They are attacking a political opponent, who happens to be a veteran.

Not that Trump has shown a lot of respect for vets. Or done anything to help them.

And the Rs in general have done a pretty poor job of taking care of the vets (really good at sending them off to war, not so good at taking care of them when they return). But the Ds haven't done a whole lot better.

Fair enough, and to your point, a handful of republicans have been protesting Trump's disrespect of McCain's service.

It’s exactly the Republicans, they knew precisely what they were getting when they cast their vote.

In my circle, the veterans do not and have not held John McCain in high regard for many years. He is considered a RINO and a traitor to the cause. Like John Kerry, he is a political ass kisser. We do not claim either one of them.

With respect to complete disclosure, I did vote for him in 2008. I knew we would be in trouble if Obama won.

I disagree, we are more pleased with President Trump thus far than with the previous administration. Much of what needs to be done rests with Congress. With President Trump we feel we have a chance.

And, don't forget that with a volunteer military, warriors volunteer so that they can go to war. We still have men and women in this country with a warrior spirit. Thank God!

Yes, Cadet Bone Spurs, DDM* and 4 bars, clearly has the best interests of veterans at heart.

Ah. So you have as little respect for him as Trump does. I guess I could have assumed that.

How does that make any sense? Whose ass is he kissing?

Surely all the other R Senators and Congressmen who were vehemently opposed to primary candidate Trump before becoming fully supportive of President Trump's agenda are the ass kissers?

"Ass kisser" is an insult. Ron does not like him. Therefore, he is an ass kisser.

You must know that, at this point, whether or not that is true doesn't matter. We live in the age of Trump, where truth is subordinate to political agenda.

Seriously? What "we" are you talking about?

The ones in your 'hideout', the ones who think exactly like you?

That wouldn't surprise me.

How about the "Gold Star Families"? Including the ones he's denigrated?

How about the ones who need and use the VA? The ones he basically spit on with his nomination of his White House physician for Secretary of Veteran's Affairs.

How about the veterans who are Muslim? Or Mexican? Or don't those veterans count in your opinion?

True enough I only talk to the veterans in my local area and those in the PGR. However, you might consider...

What about Muslim or Mexican veterans?

He's an ass kisser? Who's ass is he kissing and what is he getting out of it. The man is literally writing the invitation list to his own funeral, what does he have to gain?

To suggest that John McCain is a Benedict Arnold is outrageous. you should be ashamed of yourself.

It's been clear for some time that Ron thinks only white, christian republicans are real americans. I guess now that's shrunk down even further to the belief that only the true believer Trumpeteers are real americans. Therefore anyone like McCain who goes against Trump is a traitor.

... And then he complains that the country is divided.:D

Veterans? Perhaps. Active-duty? I wouldn't count on it.

No, that is not why we volunteer.

I will qualify my position by stating that most of my experience has been around special operatives of my generation and most of those were career operatives. There are the sheepdogs, the dogs of war.

Since 2008 and the infusion of the Obama administration I lost respect for him. He became what is now known as the deep state.

When you start thinking of John McCain as a deep state Democrat, you've lost all touch with reality.

My understanding of the deep state is that it is comprised of both Democrats and Republicans.

What was he doing to kiss the ass of the Obama administration?

Quote

He became what is now known as the deep state.

He is an elected member of government. He is part of the state.

The deep state is by definition a network of entrenched unelected beaurocrats who operate independently of the directives of the elected government.

To say that McCain is the deep state is simply to demonstrate ignorance of the concept of the deep state.
