I am a progressive liberal by your standards. I even live in a rural farming area of progressive liberal New England.

I, and most people I know, would never vote for someone who we thought would take actions to get back at groups, if nothing else because basing your decisions on others gives them the power. I would prefer to vote for someone who articulated goals I agree with for the country (not necessarily personal goals), and would work for them.

Those are the heavily populated areas of progressive liberalism. They think the rest of the country should support their problems. Thus, they seek to spread their disease. The rest of us are trying to contain it, to quarantine them.

In 2020 if our economy is strong, our borders secure, and we are militarily dominant we will be on our way to a great America again.

I think Sanders was an unwitting shill. They wanted to put on the appearance of an actual, legitimate process so they put someone up there as an opponent but made sure it wasn't someone who could somehow win. I think they overdid the unelectable part myself. But they made it very clear, even introducing HRC as the next candidate before the decision had been officially made and with Sanders sitting right there in the room.

Some of this “paying for” is, like everything else, a matter of perspective.
I pay for welfare because of failed birth control education because a scientific evaluation of such education is rejected.
You pay for women who won’t “keep their legs together.”

I pay for a failed attempt to initiate regime change in Iraq.
You pay for I’m not sure what — they weren’t meddling. There is no evidence they were meddling.

I pay for additional air conditioning and (soon enough) coastal flood relief because of increased warmth in the country. Failure to plan. You do, too, but you figure it’s just God’s will and bad luck, except for people in the inner city.

I pay for others’ medical care due to bad choices in food, drink, drugs, and lack of exercise. And they don’t care. Those are your neighbors (Georgia is #20 in obesity, with an increasing rate). Should I resent paying for that? Or should I encourage education about the impact of diet on health? (That was one of Michelle Obama’s initiatives)

Your state gets more from the government than it pays in taxes. In fact, just about all of the states that you want to “quarantine” pay more than they get.

In a country of 300+ million, you don’t get to pick and choose values based only on local religious or regional ideals.

You are likely to reject this post as irrelevant because it doesn’t match your preconceptions. And, of course, you know what’s right and what’s wrong.

Science and facts don’t work that way. Feelings and religion do. They’re fine, in their own quarantined world.
