kallend 2,146 #1 June 23, 2018 George F. Will, a columnist with impeccable conservative credentials: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/vote-against-the-gop-this-november/2018/06/22/a6378306-7575-11e8-b4b7-308400242c2e_story.html?utm_term=.17f779eee428&wpisrc=nl_headlines&wpmm=1 "Vote against the GOP this November "Amid the carnage of Republican misrule in Washington, there is this glimmer of good news: The family-shredding policy along the southern border, the most telegenic recent example of misrule, clarified something. Occurring less than 140 days before elections that can reshape Congress, the policy has given independents and temperate Republicans — these are probably expanding and contracting cohorts, respectively — fresh if redundant evidence for the principle by which they should vote. The principle: The congressional Republican caucuses must be substantially reduced. So substantially that their remnants, reduced to minorities, will be stripped of the Constitution’s Article I powers that they have been too invertebrate to use against the current wielder of Article II powers. They will then have leisure time to wonder why they worked so hard to achieve membership in a legislature whose unexercised muscles have atrophied because of people like them."... gowlerk 2,273 #2 June 23, 2018 Yes, the conservative elites are not in favour of Trumpism. But impeachment talk is probably not a good idea. Elections have consequences. But more importantly this kind of talk will likely increase the turnout of dotard supporters at the polls. Also, do not forget the poison pill named Pence. Be careful what you wish for.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

gowlerk 2,273 #4 June 23, 2018 rushmcAnd again, there were millions of Dems who grew some spine and elected Trump! Trump's strategy for the fall is beginning to become clear. He is going to double down and appeal to those who approve of his nativism to come out and vote R. This will be a defining moment for America. In many ways more so than the 2016 election which surprised people. This time around there can be no excuses.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Article 1 covers all the powers of Congress, including the power to overrule the President and create the laws it wants, rather than the ones he wants.Do you want to have an ideagasm? CNN and your talking points are sadly disgusting and incorrect. But you don't care I know. Just what are you going to do when the midterms give him a filibuster proof Senate and he still has the house! Fewer people voted for Trump then for Clinton. If millions of those who voted for Trump were former Democrats than millions of former republicans either didn't vote, or voted for Clinton. Not sure that is a net positive for Trump going forward.
rushmc 23 #16 June 25, 2018 Millions of Democrats voted for Trump. If that was not true, he would have not won the Electoral College. jakee 1,594 #17 June 25, 2018 QuoteMillions of Democrats voted for Trump. If that was not true, he would have not won the Electoral College. Nice try though! In the states that changed hands during the election, if you assume every corresponding voter loss/gain in each state was a change of allegiance (which is an incredibly generous assumption for your argument) it took less than half a million swing voters to give Trump the Electoral College. If you want to claim that millions of self-identified democrats voted for Trump, the EC victory does not support that argument, just like the popular vote does not support that argument.Do you want to have an ideagasm? I am simply pointing out that if millions went from D to R, then based on vote totals either lots of Rs didn't vote or voted D. That's just the logical outcome of what you are saying.
