GOP senator: 'It feels like violence is coming'

A GOP senator on Friday evening warned that "it feels like violence is coming" and the president won't be able to calm the nation in the face of it.

In an extensive Facebook post, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) shared thoughts he said were prompted by the violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. that left three dead and multiple injured.

Is America Headed for a New Kind of Civil War?

A day after the brawling and racist brutality and deaths in Virginia, Governor Terry McAuliffe asked, “How did we get to this place?”...

President Trump “modeled violence as a way to advance politically and validated bullying during and after the campaign,” Mines wrote in Foreign Policy. “Judging from recent events the left is now fully on board with this,” he continued, citing anarchists in anti-globalization riots as one of several flashpoints. “It is like 1859, everyone is mad about something and everyone has a gun.”

Kevin Boyle, an American history professor at Northwestern University, watched it unfold, the feeling in his gut both horror and a sense that the racial tension bubbling for years had finally, almost inevitably, begun boiling over.

"Given our political moment, I'm not surprised that we've come to this point," he said. "I'm terribly depressed we've come to this point but I'm not surprised. It didn't come out of nowhere."

Historians and political scientists have been warning that American politics had become a pressure cooker, full of racial tension building once again to the point of a deadly clash, like the one in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday that claimed three lives.

Well was this the start of something larger?

Steve Scalise Among 4 Shot at Baseball Field; Suspect Is Dead
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A lone gunman who was said to be distraught over President Trump’s election opened fire on members of the Republican congressional baseball team at a practice field in this Washington suburb on Wednesday, using a rifle to shower the field with bullets that struck four people, including Steve Scalise, the majority whip of the House of Representatives.

It feels like violence is coming'

Ya, I feel the same way, but this is really nothing new. The New Black Panthers feared the same during the RNC. They wanted to bring guns to their protests because they were threatened, but nothing came of it.

With the emergence of these blatantly racist & ignorant nazi fucks, the stakes are higher. It's a volatile situation that only takes one pull of the trigger to set off a race war.

But ultimately, life is still too good here in the U.S. Most don't want to fight. They just want to be heard. That one shot would send practically everyone on both sides scrambling for their lives. "Ok, Ok, damn, shit, it ain't that bad. . ."

It just sucks. The left was playing into it all so well, turning into a bunch of raving lunatics. But sure enough, the right outdoes them with their fucking KKK Nazi tiki torches, seriously, fucking nazis?

The left will never let the right live this down, nor should they.

The Washpo had an article the other day about "Why the American Left gave up on political violence." I mean ya, it's not like they're blowing shit up anymore, but c'mon, really, are you fucking kidding me?

The right had a good chance at surviving Trump, but not now, not with these Nazi clowns in town - idiots. . .

On a positive note, Boston had right wing protests, and some reports said they were outnumbered by the 'anti' by 800 to one.

no violence, no confrontation at all, the right basically fucked off. Vancouver had similar results. Huge crowds telling these assholes to crawl back under their rocks. But no or little confrontation of any kind.

Maybe they will do just that, as they should. And maybe VA was just an outlier event that got out of hand. And instead of emboldening the right, actually put them in jeopardy.

Even racist, secret neo-nazis have mortgages to pay, and have to put food on the table, so they need to keep their jobs, friends, social connections, etc. We might just see a reduction in the ranks.

Maybe, just maybe we see a reduction in their activities because people go about their lives and simply remain 'racists' on the inside, but shut the fuck up when they are going about their daily lives. Which is perhaps about the best we can hope for, since there will always be some racism out there.

IMO the political atmosphere brings out the lone, unstable, almost always male, who looses touch with reality.

- 20-year-old James Alex Fields Jr. of Maumee, Ohio, a Vanguard America supporter who was the car driver in Charlottesville

- James Hodgkinson, 66, from Belleville, Illinois, the Alexandria, Obama supporter with no known affiliation with any hate group, Virginia shooter of GOP baseball players.

Both typical, one from the left side and one from the right side of the political spectrum.

Well, guns were banned and there was a large police presence.

However, there was still a small bit of violence that appears to have come from the left. 33 arrests for disorderly conduct and assaulting police officers - basically for throwing rocks and bottles of piss at the police. I guess that's an improvement. Good job kids!

I can't seem to find much on the actual right-wing event itself as it's been overshadowed by the counter protest.

Here's a decent story that pretty much sums it all up:
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/08/17/boston-free-speech-rally-speakers-john-medlar-fight-supremacy/

It doesn't appear that it was intended to be the white-power rally that everyone on the left expected. It doesn't appear to have been anything like the "unite the right" rally in Charlotsville.

This is just the same stuff that's been going on since Trump came on stage - just a bunch of drama queens holding up nazi signs for their favorite alt-right counterparts.

The true test will be when KKK and Neo-nazis show their face again, along with armed Militia hate groups standing face to face against armed Black Panthers. We should probably try to avoid that as much as possible, but like I said, most don't want to fight anyway, they just wanted to beat their chests and be heard.

Let's just hope that there aren't people within the establishment that would deliberately orchestrate an environment that intentionally pushes theses groups over the edge.
