Trump's re-entry into reality TV

Recommended Posts

Sounds like Trump misses his old job. This week Trump will be responding - live! - to Comey's testimony via Twitter.

This is going to get higher ratings than the Superbowl. It will be the biggest media event, ever! Big league.

======================
Trump will live-tweet during testimony of former FBI Director James Comey: report

President Donald Trump will reportedly respond live on Twitter as former FBI Director James Comey testifies to a Senate committee this week.

On Thursday, Comey is expected to testify to the Senate Intelligence Committee about his firing and whether Trump attempted to influence the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

The White House had initially said that it would be setting up a “war room” to deal with Comey’s testimony, but sources this week revealed that officials had failed to follow through with the plan.

Washington Post reporter Robert Costa told MSNBC on Tuesday that the president would directly respond to Comey on Twitter as the testimony is underway.

“I was just talking to some White House officials this morning and their view is that the president himself wants to be the messenger, his own warrior, his own lawyer, his own spokesman,” Costa explained. “Some outside people, some surrogates will be available.”

“But the president is expected to be tweeting on Thursday in response to Comey, not to stay quiet during the testimony,” he added. “Because he himself wants to be the one driving the process.”
=====================

There's no way that could backfire! I can see it now:

Panel: Mr. Comey, were you aware of any contact between Trump and Ambassador Kislyak before the election?

Comey: Well, I know that he met with at least . . .

Panel: Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Comey, but President Trump just tweeted that he never met with the Ambassador at the Hay-Adams hotel.

Comey: Hmm. I wasn't previously aware of that meeting, but the Ambassador was indeed staying at the Hay-Adams hotel before the election.

Glad to see the president is spending his time well... :|

^^^^^This.^^^^

How is no one outraged that he isn't doing his job? He isn't doing the job that 49% of the voters hired him to do. How are they not upset by his behavior? How many positions are still vacant, awaiting a nominee? (federal judges, service secretaries, ambassadors, even cabinet and sub-cabinet positions). This is all stuff that should have been done during TRANSITION.

He's almost half way through his first year. We're past the, "let him get his feet under him and understand the job" grace period. He is wholly unqualified for the job and should be removed from office. >:(

I think the country is actually better off when he is madly tweeting about things that piss him off. That way he's not trying to ban Muslims, attacking the latest terrorism victims, disparaging our allies or surrendering our lead in clean energy.

Funny thing about that. You're right; he hasn't made most of those nominations. So guess who he is blaming?

"Dems are taking forever to approve my people, including Ambassadors. They are nothing but OBSTRUCTIONISTS! Want approvals."

Maybe the Democrats could take the lead and actually nominate people for the vacant positions? The "Dark State" rules!

Or taking credit for the severing of ties by various middle eastern countries with Qatar. I am sure the pentagon must be thrilled. Wonder if he knew there is a rather large US base there.

To be honest I wouldn't expect a new President to know everyone he needs to nominate, or how to go about choosing them, or which vacancies are really important. The problem is that he has surrounded himself with lots of other people who don't know either.

This is the logical conclusion of all the calls that have been made for many years to get rid of the beltway insiders, the calls to drain the swamp, the pervasive idea that spending a long time working at a high level in the US government is somehow a stain on one's resume.

Turns out the administration of government really does go smoother when it's being carried out by experienced government administrators.

LOL right? And he's so pleased that Saudi Arabia are saying they'll take a hardline against Qatar funding extremists. Ummm, ok, but what about them?:D

Would love to see Spicer asked to revisit his statements about the ban not being a ban, and Trump only calling it a ban because the media called it a ban now that Trump has tweeted that he'll keep calling it a ban because it is a ban even if other people don't call it a ban!

Look, it's perfectly clear. Question - should Trump's tweets be considered official? Spicer: "The president is president of the United States, so they are considered official statements by the president of the United States."

OK. So the media should pay attention to them? Not so much. "I think the media obsesses over every period and dot . . . I think it's just the obsession over every detail of the president's tweets. They come directly from the president's twitter account." (Sarah Huckabee)

Wait. But surely reporting on the official statements of the President is exactly what the press is supposed to do - right? Let's ask Sebastian Gorka, the White House National Security Advisor, one of Trump's inner circle - “[A Tweet is] not policy, it’s social media. It's not policy, it's not an executive order, it's social media. Please understand the difference.”

Hope that clears it up.

Yeah, that drove me nuts the other morning. Looks like Gorka needs a bit of education on what constitutes "policy." He seems to think "policy" is simply what executive orders do: officially codify the policy. :S
