Meh. What Bill really needs to do is get Sangrio to develop a sarcasm font.

It would help those who post garbage and expect serious responses to it.

And RushMC; don't forget him. He knows a _lot_ more about antrogenetic warming than I do.

And smoking don't forget about smoking because Bill says that catastrophic anthropogenic global warming is a lot like smoking.

Not bad, but you need more misspellings to go along with the tortured grammar if you want to make it authentic.

Maine lawmaker seeks discrimination protection for climate change deniers
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/mar/22/climate-change-denial-free-speech-protection-maine-bill

Quote

Lockman’s bill is “absurd and unnecessary”, said Dylan Voorhees, climate and clean energy project director for the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

“Clearly an attempt to provide cover for climate deniers,” he said. “I see a trickle down from the Trump administration that has emboldened some folks to make climate denial statements.”

While those on the left like to think of themselves as more evolved what you've evolved into are bullies. Many people don't dare voice an opinion contrary to the liberal beliefs lest they be chastised and branded unworthy.

So let's see what happens to a self-proclaimed "conservative" spokesperson who dares to have an opinion that does not adhere to the "conservative" party line: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/03/21/tomi-lahrens-nightly-show-pulled-for-a-week-after-her-abortion-comments/

Yes of course. A law to be called "The Conservative Snowflake Protection Act". Because mean old liberals won't just quietly stand aside while the bullshit rains down from above. Give me a break. Are climate change deniers really that fragile? They need to compete in the marketplace of ideas, but they can't because their ideas are based on lies.

Right here is a prime example. I'm not so much a denier as I am a skeptic. And yet you want to lash out and say my beliefs are based on lies. My beliefs are based on a healthy dose of skepticism. I'm old enough to have seen these types of things before. In the 60's and 70's it was Global Cooling that was going to destroy us.

Of course you all know that, regardless of whether it's man made or not there will never be enough done to have a meaningful impact. And there lies my skepticism.

I get that you want more EV's. Where do you think that electricity will come from?

I get that you want more solar. In many parts of the US solar isn't really practical.

I get that you want more wind power. I doubt we could erect enough fans to make a difference.

I get that you oppose nuclear. I don't think we can get to anywhere meaningful without it.

I get that you hate burning coal. But years ago the EPA shoved requirements for clean coal burning down the throats of the industry. I'm glad they did. I guess it wasn't enough.

Even in Canada there is healthy skepticism...

Quote

In an open letter to the Canadian Prime Minister, 60 scientists urged caution when it comes to any policy with regard to climate:

While the confident pronouncements of scientifically unqualified environmental groups may provide for sensational headlines, they are no basis for mature policy formation.… There is no “consensus” among climate scientists about the relative importance of the various causes of global climate change.… “Climate change is real” is a meaningless phrase used repeatedly by activists to convince the public that a climate catastrophe is looming and humanity is the cause. Neither of these fears is justified. Global climate changes all the time due to natural causes and the human impact still remains impossible to distinguish from this natural noise.

I guess I'll just remain a skeptic.
Please don't dent the planet.

As always, don't bother:
"Watts Up With That? (or WUWT) is a blog[1] promoting climate change denial[2][3][4][5][6] that was created by Anthony Watts in 2006.[2][3]

The blog predominantly discusses climate issues with a focus on anthropogenic climate change, generally accommodating beliefs that are in opposition to the scientific consensus on climate change. Contributors include Christopher Monckton and Fred Singer as guest authors.[7] In November 2009, the blog was one of the first websites to publish emails and documents from the Climatic Research Unit controversy, and a driving force behind its coverage.[7]...

In 2009, Watts Up With That was involved in popularizing the Climatic Research Unit email controversy,[10][18] wherein emails of several climatologists were published by a hacker. ...

Mann, Michael (1 October 2013). The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars: Dispatches from the Front Lines. Columbia University Press. pp. 27, 72, 222. "Since then, a number of other amateur climate change denial bloggers have arrived on the scene. Most prominent among them is Anthony Watts, a meteorologist...and founder of the site "Watts Up with That?" which has overtaken climate audit as the leading climate change denial blog."

LOL

Anthony Watts is NOT a denier.

But try the link despite your religious, emotional and political inclinations not to do so.

It is a report Compiled by Dr Ole Humlum, Professor of Physical Geography at the University Centre in Svalbard (Norway). Based on observational data.

Not that you care about data.........

You should read what I wrote more carefully. I did not call you a denier. I actually did not take the time to even consider the nuances of your beliefs. My comment is about the outrageous attempt to protect deniers from criticism. Again, let their ideas stand in the marketplace.

So your mind is made up even though scientists from Canada have asked the PM to be a skeptic?

I know Canada is thought of as much smaller than the US, but do you really think "60 scientists" is a meaningful number? How many scientists do you think we have here? I'll bet there are at least 600 geologists working for oil companies alone.

You have provided a quote you got from somewhere about 60 signatures on an open letter to the PM. No link to any info I can evaluate. So to answer your question, it does not factor into helping me make up my mind.

Good God, quit bringing that ridiculous website over here, it's the biggest pile of rubbish. Every time you do you get debunked. It's the same garbage every time, there's some scientist listed and if you look up the scientist you'll find he's a staunch global warming skeptic, then there are some findings that differ somehow with the extended science community, then there are graphs from random places that barely have anything to do with the material at hand but seem technical or at least confusing enough to fool people like you.

That article claims there is no definite proof that the large increase in CO2 levels is responsible for the increase in temperature seen in the past 300 years. 300 years is a very short time in geological terms. I believe there is ample evidence. The glaciers are melting, the temps are rising, and so is the sea level. At a rate that we can find no precedent for, and consistant with the models.

Your position is a political one. Not a scientific one. Science is not liberal or conservative. But in most of the world, only American conservatives dispute the facts that are as plain as day.
