I hope he does because he then puts himself into a position of defending himself against a perjury charge (He stated, under oath,on May 3rd that Trump did not try to force him). So Comey did indeed testify that Trump tried to force him to drop the Flynn investigation. From his testimony: "I took it as a direction. I mean, this is a president of the United States with me alone saying, 'I hope this.' I took it as, this is what he wants me to do. I didn't obey that, but that's the way I took it." And Trump's son then confirmed that Trump said that to Comey. And no perjury charges! However, we do have some news on the "potential new charges" front today: ========== Special counsel is investigating Trump for possible obstruction of justice, officials say Devlin Barrett June 14 at 6:21 PM WaPo The special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice, officials said. The move by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said. ========= After a day this bad for you, I expect we might see you in full-fledged panic mode, and we will soon be hearing about sharks, fake news, evil media and noserings - anything to distract from the dumpster fire in the White House. Looking forward to the next revelations.

billvon 3,110 #680 June 15, 2017 Aaaaand - Pence lawyers up. Looks like after the Comey and Sessions testimony, people are getting very, very worried. =========================== Pence hires outside counsel to deal with Russia probe inquiries By Ashley Parker June 15 at 4:58 PM WaPo Vice President Pence has hired outside legal counsel to help with both congressional committee inquiries and the special counsel investigation into possible collusion between President Trump’s campaign and Russia. The vice president’s office said Thursday that Pence has retained Richard Cullen, a Richmond-based lawyer and chairman of McGuireWoods who previously served as a U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. Pence’s decision comes less than a month after Trump hired his own private attorney, Marc E. Kasowitz, to help navigate the investigations related to the Russia probe, and a day after The Washington Post reported that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is widening his investigation to examine whether the president attempted to obstruct justice. ===========================

tkhayes 348 #690 June 16, 2017 QuoteSo we now have a special counsel appointed. This special counsel answers to no one. Tell me Bill, how f****** stupid would it be not to lawyer up in a situation like this? Given that you already have a team of staff attorneys to protect you, it could very well be considered unnecessary. Unless of course you do not trust the team of govt paid-for attorneys that are staff to look after your 'personal interests'. But of course I am sure the taxpayer is picking up the tab for the outside counsel as well. And yes, that outside counsel can absolutely work for exclusively you, and 'your personal interests' because after all, when you go got elected, you swore to look after your own interests above all others interests....like say, the country or the Constitution. And those staff attorneys swore to uphold the Constitution...not to protect you. Yes they can hire outside attorneys...and the fact that they have absolutely reeks of the corruption that I expect we will see as the investigation progresses. Mostly a tactical move to further drag out proceedings, since you can now have dozens of attorneys, firms and individuals delaying proceedings for all the same reasons, tying this up for years at taxpayers expense. BTW, for all those times you claimed that Trump is not under investigation.... well Trump is now officially under investigation by Mueller and the FBI for obstruction of Justice. It's an actual investigation, just like the Russia investigation which you also claimed did not exist.
tkhayes 348 #691 June 16, 2017 and that is no doubt what the real issue should be. Trump and his elite staff have yet to even acknowledge that Russia played a part in trying to influence an election and throw the country into chaos....deeply affecting the democracy we live in. I do not believe that Putin's goals had anything to do with supporting Trump, more to simply throw into question the credibility of our democracy, and from what I can see, it has been played perfectly, certainly effectively. Not a single thing is happening at the congressional or executive level to condone or look into the actual hacking and what Russia did, how it affected things. And Obama failed to act as well for fear of 'being a player in the election', but in hindsight, this should have all over the White House and the executive when it hit the radar last summer. But as well, the collusion/involvement aspect also needs to be investigated and all the Americans involved may very well have been 'played' by Russia. But the outcome is the same. America divided, America's democracy thrown into upheaval, mis-trust in the system, but no one is addressing that. Or even talking about it.

The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction." OK, great. So what's going on with Trump saying "I am being investigated?" "He’s being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and the deputy attorney general recommended him to take, by the agency that recommended he take the action. That’s the constitutional threshold issue." Wait a minute. Now he IS being investigated?
