Military begins to distance itself from Trump

Recommended Posts

First VoteVets let him know what they thought of him:

“Look, you lost the popular vote. You’re having trouble drawing a crowd. And your approval rating keeps sinking. But kicking thousands of my fellow veterans off their health insurance by killing the Affordable Care Act and banning Muslims won’t help. And that’s not the America I sacrificed for. You want to be a legitimate president, sir? Then act like one.”

Then Mark Hertling, a retired Army lieutenant general, took offense at a speech he gave at MacDill Air Force Base:

“When President Trump suggested that it was good to support him and said he was so thankful for the support of the military, it showed that he doesn’t understand what the military in a freely elected democracy is supposed to be doing. The military takes an oath to defend the Constitution, not certain politicians."

Andrew Exum, a former Army Ranger:

“This is part of a pattern. Whether it is the Memorial Wall at the C.I.A., or the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon, he is using institutions that have previously been walled off from politics to generate political support for some of his more contentious policies.”

(waiting for the right wing extremists here to attack those people as being "special snowflakes" who "need a safe space.")

if we falter and lose our freedoms,

Sure, American troops want to become international pirates.

Go overseas to kill people and steal the natural resources of the conquered countries. After all the Vikings did that and the Nazis did it.

He repeated those statement last week and is still repeating them today.

"Second was Trump resurfacing his position last week that the United States should seize Iraqi oil
because it underwrote the Islamic State’s war-making capabilities. He is apparently tone-deaf to the global reaction to this kind of “to the victor goes the spoils” talk, much less the Iraqi reaction. "

Join the army and be all you can be. Help the US international balance of payments problems at the same time.
