There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. TriGirl 333 #28 February 2, 2017 mistercwood Milo's a trolling shitbag, I support peaceful protests against his attendance 100%. Very disappointing that the protesters moved on to property damage though. I visited Berkley to attend a presentation/discussion during my time at Monterey for graduate school. I was pretty unimpressed by the condition of the campus, owning mostly to the presence of protest posters EVERYWHERE. Had they been supporting/opposing something serious, with valid arguments either way, I would have understood. Multi-colored flyers advertising meetings for groups supporting/opposed to dozens of issues, written in rather passionate language, as if the fate of the Bill of Rights itself hung in the balance of each one (though none addressing any issues even covered by the Bill of Rights, except the freedom to post the flyers and hold their discussions!). And those larger issues represented by banners and flyers were really not represented well. It seemed to me that the school was desperately clinging to its identity of social mobilization by trying to find even the strangest, unimportant, least impactful issue, just to have something to stand for/against, instead of really digging down into social issues and understanding all sides. It was pretty sad. If you want your opposing views to be taken seriously (and have a real impact), present a coherent argument, be prepared to discuss both sides, and behave like an adult. If you want to counter his hateful rhetoric, schedule a "counter-point" presenter the following evening or week.See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! riggerrob 643 #32 February 2, 2017 Agreed! These last few years, a variety of - initially - peaceful protests have been hijacked by handfuls of hooded vandals. They get their thrills from breaking things and taunting police. One of the more amusing videos of the Vancouver Riot Essa guy taunting police for 10 minutes, then getting whacked once! He got what head asking for! These vandals have a similar mind-set to skydivers. The only difference is that skydivers taunt the law of gravity. To think your old prof is President Now. That the author of all those textbooks is the President's right hand man, bannon. "Lie is a word from the common man dime box. Disingenuous is a 50 cent word from the political speak box. Lie is simple to understand — a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood; something intended or serving to convey a false impression. Disingenuous is spoken with a bit of fuzz on it — lacking in frankness, candor, or sincerity; falsely or hypocritically ingenuous; insincere:" http://www.teapartytribune.com/2012/04/07/difference-between-lie-and-disingenuous/

I remember many years ago when the KKK wanted to march in Marietta Oh and they were almost banned. If they had been then locals would only have their brochures to go by, the ones making them out to be some kind of heroes protecting white women. As it is they saw a bunch of toothless morons with belt sizes larger than their IQs. I wonder if this guy even had a speech written for that night, of if he actually got exactly what he wanted. riggerrob 643 #44 February 4, 2017 Agents provocateur Agents provocateur Most of the problems, fires, etc. were caused by agents provocateur. Welcome to German politics circa 1933. Remember that Hitler did not suddenly rise to power on his charm and goods looks. Adolf Hitler and his national socialist party rose to power because they had better-organized street thugs who intimidated rival political parties. Once they go into power Nazis set fire to the Reichstad, then wrecked Jewish businesses during Krystalnacht, then started imprisoning communists, homosexuals, jews, gypsies, etc. Next thing we knew, Nazis were laying waste the Soviet Union. Recent political events scare me. They scare me because politics are becoming incredibly shallow and narrow-minded and polarized. Canadian politics are not significantly better, merely a year or two behind American trends.
