Even if that were true, it would be a short-lived appointment. Because, frankly, I'm quite sure Obama respects the transition of power, just as I'm quite sure most Republicans would under similar circumstances. I say most because of the recent Supreme Court Justice hoopla. I suspect the rank and file would have been just fine with voting up or down on Garland if the leadership had set that time.

There are never any exact equivalents; that makes it easy, but intellectually dishonest, to say that THIS time it's WAY worse.

Remember all the hoopla over the "wrong" oath administered to Obama during the 2008 inauguration, and the gleeful speculation that it would invalidate his presidency? That was different, too, but just as stupid and chickenshit.

Of course there are people who grab on that crap. There were people who were actually convinced that Obama might not be a natural-born citizen, and that the lawsuit over his birth certificate might be worth something more than an opportunity to waste time and money.

1) There WAS a guy on Fox News calling for Obama's assassination.

In other words, it wasn't a big deal and there wasn't all this outrage you assume there would have been.

Dude. From watching a link in in the inaugration music thread I just found out Michael Stipe is 57 REM was part of the soundtrack of my youth and now he looks like a granddad

On the bright side though, maybe it means that Trump's 4 years will be gone before we know it. Not sure about the trail of destruction left in his wake, but I'm an eternal optimist. (Which I'm sure everyone here will disagree with)
