Powers of each branch are spelled out pretty clearly in the Constitution.

I have a funny feeling that even the Republicans that supported Trump would get a "little bit miffed" if he tried for a power grab.

I have a fair amount of faith in the checks and balances that are there. They aren't perfect, but I think they'll do.

Well I think Stolen is way out of line, not like this hasn't happened before. The replacement of Justice Robert Trimble who died in August of 1828 was delayed until Andrew Jackson was elected. John Quincy Adams picked John Crittenden, but his nomination was blocked by the Senate until Andrew Jackson took office. Andrew Jackson appointed John McLean who replaced Trimble.

I believe there are several others but this one stood out in my memory, I did however have to look up the date of death for Trimble.

Stolen is the right word here, as in stealing a base in baseball.

While it may have happened before, it was in no way the "normal" way these things are done. Even less so in modern times.

IF Congress had been doing its job as it should, that seat should have rightfully been appointed by Obama and not Trump.
