wolfriverjoe 1,523 #27 November 21, 2016 Lots of stuff bouncing around FB on this. One of my favorites (paraphrased): Anyone who publicly mocks a disabled man has no business being offended by what someone else says. And there is an interesting editorial from CNN. It addresses Trump's responses to both the Hamilton incident and to SNL. QuoteThe man who will be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States in January is not just upset that a comedy show is making fun of him but is demanding it make changes to its content to please him... ...Trump was so outraged at "SNL's" comically ridiculing him that he called for the show to be canceled Apparently Trump is only in favor of free speech when it doesn't criticize or ridicule him."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." That will be true if he recommends to congress to pass a law to that effect. Until then, it's just an opinion. I'm saying he won't do just that, but it would be nice if they wait until then instead of continuing to throw the strawmen out. Boy that cries wolf and all that..... ... I'm saying he won't do just that, but it would be nice if they wait until then instead of continuing to throw the strawmen out. Boy that cries wolf and all that..... No, it's true now. I'd just as soon not wait to make clear how wrong his behavior is until he starts passing laws or writing Executive Orders. Or having his minions start calling for the registration and possible internment of groups he fears... Oh, yeah. That already happened. He is clearly in favor of stifling any criticism or ridicule. Yet he criticizes and ridicules his opponents rather scathingly. As was pointed out in the editorial that I linked, ridiculing and booing politicians is an exercise of free speech. Even Mike Pence understood that (again, in the link). Trump doesn't have to pass any laws to exercise power (didn't all the conservatives bitch about Obama doing that?). He has the temperament of a 5 year old. Not something that is a good thing for a President."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." rehmwa 2 #30 November 21, 2016 wolfriverjoeTrump doesn't have to pass any laws to exercise power (didn't all the conservatives bitch about Obama doing that?). Not all conservatives (except the 'usual crowd' - both sides have 'those' people). A LOT of people, in general, complained about it because it was a terrible precedent to (continue to) establish. Exec Orders are supposed to be used to enforce existing law, not bypass congress' duties. People hate the equivalency discussions because it shines the light on both sides instead of just reinforces their echo chambers. The measure of any politician for me, is when I know their 'opinions' and whether they are able to govern cleanly even when their opinions are in contrast with law. Same goes for judges. Politicians hide their opinions, or, IMO, just don't have any opinions that aren't fed to them. this guy sure doesn't hide anything. The problem nowadays is people want their 'opinions' codified into law. It's a pretty narcissistic culture and we're seeing it everywhere. I'll hope for the best, but expect the worst and be prepared. ... tigra 0 #31 November 21, 2016 He was not booed by the cast, he was booed by the audience. Should the audience "applegize"? Because I think Trump should "applegize" to the cast and crew of Hamilton for blatantly lying about what happened.

Good job on redirecting to what is really important in the world though - the sexist statements of stage actors are obviously of much greater concern than the sexist comments of the President elect. The story you said proved Quade wrong didn't say anything about the attitude of the cast or what they said to him. So what are you basing your opinion on? QuoteAnd I know you will forgive racists sexists as long as they are Democrats.. Nope. There is no media twist to that. We can judge them on their own words. jakee 1,645 #45 November 22, 2016 Quote Trumps comments were stupid but, they do not make him all that you say he is. Oh really? The only thing you know about the Hamilton actor is that he didn't vote for Trump/Pence, and the content of those tweets. Yet, according to you, he is a racist, a sexist, and a 'perfect example of what people are in the Democratic party today.' His comments make him all of that, but Trump's comments (and associated accusations and settled lawsuits against him) don't make him anything at all? Not a sexist? Not a victimiser of women? Quote Also claiming some in his cabinet are things they are not. Bannon comes to mind. Bannon's only sin was helping Trump get elected. And some of the claims have been pulled back already. Now you're delusional. You think no-one was criticising Breitbart News and Bannon before Trump started his campaign? Look at the response back when they first started supporting him - people thought Breitbart was dragging Trump down, not the other way around Quote I only throw back at you that which is tossed my way.
