I found discussion of this on another forum. Frank Luntz is a long-time pollster talking about how American attitudes have changed for the worse regarding elections. He put together a mixed group of 2 dozen people to show "60 Minutes":

I saw it on 60 Min and thought it explained the general thinking and anger of the electorate better than the polling.

With the protests last night I wonder what will happen when trump takes office. Some are angry.

A lot of it is going to depend on who he appoints in his cabinet (already heard Giuliani for AG or Homeland Security, both of which make me shudder) and his communications.

His victory speech was conciliatory, which helped. We'll see what his communication is like in the days and months to come.

Funny how the dems do not accept elections results and its ok.

Imagine the headlines had Hillary won and protestors took to the streets (which for the most part would not have happened)

On another forum, in a discussion of "what went wrong in the polling", a poster shared this link:

His point was that the "other" category was voters who didn't like Trump or Clinton, but had not yet decided what to do. Then in the general election, they voted Trump just to give a big "Fuck you!" to the RNC and DNC establishment. So really there were two different kinds of Trump voters:

a) The true believers who swallowed everything he said.
b) The ones that hated Trump and Clinton, and voted Trump just to stick it to the man.
