It's the second time Moore has been removed from the chief justice job for defiance of federal courts - the first time in 2003 for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the state judicial building. The Alabama Court of the Judiciary (COJ) issued the order Friday suspending Moore from the bench for the remainder of his term after an unanimous vote of the nine-member court. "For these violations, Chief Justice Moore is hereby suspended from office without pay for the remainder of his term. This suspension is effective immediately," the order stated. The court found him guilty of all six charges of violation of the canons of judicial ethics. Moore's term is to end in 2019, but because of his age, 69, he cannot run for the office again. Gov. Robert Bentley will name a replacement for Moore. ========== ACC moves football championship to Orlando Thursday, September 29, 2016 10:14 am By MIKE BARBER Richmond Times-Dispatch . . . The league officially announced Thursday, as expected, it has moved the 2016 football championship game to Orlando’s Camping World Stadium, home of the Russell Athletic Bowl and the Citrus Bowl. The game will still be played Saturday night, Dec. 3, but moved to Orlando from Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium because of North Carolina’s State Bill 2, a law that places restrictions on transgendered people. The NCAA and ACC pulled all of their neutral-site championships out of North Carolina. ===========

tkhayes 348 #3 September 30, 2016 Trump: "It was rigged!" Clinton: "A victory for society and America!" Johnson: "Aleppo!" but seriously...hard to argue with a unanimous decision....the system working the way it was intended. Good for that.

normiss 905 #5 September 30, 2016 Maybe the justices have something similar to 'the blue line'?

By the time his suspension (without pay) is over, he will be too old to be able to run again. So, he is removed.

Maybe they're taking the lazy route because of his age, less process around suspension.

My understanding is that this mandatory age limit is up for a vote prior to the end of his term.
