2016 DNC

Recommended Posts

With references to a previous investigative report, and confirmation via the Wikileaks emails, Matt Taibbi explains how the DNC took money that was intended for local campaigns, then funneled it to the Clinton campaign: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/features/dnc-leak-shows-mechanics-of-a-slanted-campaign-w430814

So Bernie supporters have a right to be outraged, and it appears the DNC should be charged with violating campaign finance laws.

I don't understand how a guy that opposed being a democrat for years, only to jump into their boat trying to ride to the oval office, feels cheated by a party he wasn't a part of until it suited his needs.....
It feels like he played the game he was fighting against in my mind.
The party owes him nothing, he wasn't invested.

It's weird, this approach worked for Trump, not Bernie.

And I don't understand why people think that doing your own thinking, instead of letting the mob mentality of a political party do it for you, is a bad thing.

The Rep/Dem duopoly has made it impossible for a 3rd-party candidate to win. So what choice is there other than going with one of the duopoly? Bloomberg was a Democrat, then a Republican, then an Independent. Does that mean he can't be trusted? Hell, even the Federalist papers warn about political partisanship being a danger to the republic.

Thanks to the DNC shenanigans, they are manipulating a candidate into the nomination that has (IMO) less chance of defeating Trump than the guy they fucked over!>:(

Here's how the Democrats don't get it: Wasserman Schultz promised to step down after the convention is over. That's like finding a turd in the punchbowl and telling everyone:

"Don't worry, we're getting rid of the turd as soon as the party is over".

-- Stephen Colbert (last night)

That's funny.

Great speech by Michelle Obama last night. What a difference in tone compared to the speakers at the RNC.

I'm really thrilled at the meltdown of both parties. Was worried the dems were just in denial, but if both parties can be outraged at the crapfest going in their own parties, then there is hope they might find a way to fix it.

if not, thrilled that the other parties will get a lot more attention - they should

Michelle is VERY likeable. I think it's sincere too. Too bad she's not running instead of Trillary.

However, insisting that America is great is a big shift from before where she was proud to be American "for the first time in her life".

"There were a lot of great speeches tonight, but leave it to Michelle Obama to truly unify the Democrats. With tonights moving speech, she convinced everyone in that arena that it was time to elect, as POTUS... former First Lady...Michelle Obama.
...
Michelle's speech was so good, I want to hear it again. When is Melania doing it?"

The DNC is turning out to be a complete junkshow just like the RNC. The only difference here is 75%+ of the users are liberals, so we don't get the 15 minute play-by-play of said junkshow.

The difference is that the RNC was a depressing, fearful, and factually 85% incorrect vision of the USA. The DNC is just about the opposite -- upbeat and much more factually correct (whether or not one agrees with their policies). DNC speakers were obviously much better and on point.

Other differences are the immediate quashing of the RNC never-Trump delegates. The DNC tried to bring the Bernie camp into the fold, but there were still lots of protests -- not shown that much on the MSM, but good coverage and interviews on alternate streaming media sources. Both camps actively strove to repress the dissidents on the floor, but the Dems (Bernie or Busters) still were quite active outside the convention.

Trump's speed was laughable -- still to be seen how Hillary does.

"Don't boo, vote!"

Paraphrase - "I don't care what you have to say or what message you are trying to get across"

"vote" - yep, but guess what, we control who you get to choose from

Initially it's a great quote - but deep down it's pretty clearly a statement of who he thinks is in charge -- that the voters they "own" are simply drones that must comply. We saw the same thing when the RNC shouted down Cruz too. (Don't mess with the two party monopoly - free speech is also discouraged in these private gatherings)

yes please - "Vote" - write in Bernie, vote for Johnson, vote for Stein, vote for Castle - heck with them too, I'm writing in Wendy

Trump campaign today on the DNC:

"They resorted to the politics of fear, trying to convince Americans not to vote for change."

Translation - "I know you are but what am I?"

(Also makes me wonder if Trump is going to add "hope" to his campaign as well.)

They were booing Trump. So a more accurate paraphrase might have been "yes, we all know you don't like Trump, so let's just take that as a given, OK?"

What a lot of garbage.

Encouraging people to vote in an election is the same as believing people are drones that must comply. Nuts.

No wonder you guys have Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as nominees.
