Once the Fairness Doctrine was removed, talking head blowholes took over and found their audiences by creating fake divisiveness which was unseen before. They tapped into the great idiocracy and Trump was the logical conclusion.

Free Speech is fine. Hogging the mic on a 50,000 watt clear channel station is something a little different. Monopolizing the airwaves with a network of such stations all controlled by the same interest is even worse.

With the Fairness Doctrine, Free Speech was available to all. Without it, it's available to those with the capitol to invest in media companies. It's no longer free for all. Only free to the oligarchy.

The loss of the fairness doctrine was a blow to free speech. It resulted in unpopular speech being suppressed. The result? FOX News (among other things) and the birth of the echo chamber.
