quade 4 #1 April 29, 2016 Criminal malfeasance. Seriously. What the hell is wrong with these people? This is their "Zika Determined To Strike in US" moment and fuck them for ignoring it. Or worse, intentionally holding back simply so they don't "give Obama a win." QuoteHow the administration’s Zika offensive should be funded, and by how much, has broken down mostly along party lines. Generally speaking, Senate Democrats have supported separate, emergency funding for the virus, while Republicans have not. Some congressional GOP leaders insist on considering the money as part of the ongoing 2017 appropriations process, which would mean taking funds away from other parts of the budget to pay for Zika. In that case, funding would also not be available until October when the new fiscal year begins, months after Congress first received a funding request from the White House. Or worse, intentionally holding back simply so they don't "give Obama a win." October? Are they fucking stupid? First let me be clear: I do not wish to see the effects of this virus on developing fetuses. However I think we can agree that the correlation between this virus and the occurrence of fetal microcephaly is too strong to ignore. What will the R-strong Senate do when more fetuses are diagnosed with this condition, and more women either want to terminate those pregnancies, or now have a need for extensive assistance for a severely disabled child? I'm sure at that point Senators will wish they had done more to prevent the effects of this virus early, when they had the chance.See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! TriGirl 343 #5 May 6, 2016 Well, in comparison to the increased spending on healthcare and support for affected babies (if they don't support that spending, I can only imagine the backlash!). Or, trying to justify their attempts to shut down a woman's right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy. Spending a smaller amount, without any social landmines (everyone can agree to help stop a disease, right?), would have been a whole lot easier than the political nightmare they could face in the fall.See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! Surely, you jest. Jerry Baumchen It's thought that the majority of affected babies will grow up to vote Republican. The Rs have to do something, they can feel the demographic sand shifting under their feet.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. Give more speeches on how there are more "takers" than ever, and that government handouts must be stopped to protect real Americans. >I'm sure at that point Senators will wish they had done more to prevent the effects of this virus early, >when they had the chance. Don't underestimate the value that politicians place on fear. Fear makes it easier to control a populace.
