quade 4 #2 April 29, 2016 The government can't do everything, nor should it. Private individuals can't do everything, nor should they. Civilization is a collective effort regardless of what anyone says. And yes, I used the word "collective" on purpose just to annoy the Randians. If you don't like civilization and instead choose to live on your own private island in the ocean, go for it. Nobody is stopping you. As for governments giving ambitious start up companies money . . . you DO realize that's how the northern continent was settled, yes? That before there were 13 colonies, there were companies financed by a government solely for the purpose of extracting as much wealth out of the new continent as possible.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Government has a vital role to play. It's role is spelled out in this thing I like to call the Constitution, "good and welfare clause" notwithstanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0VYOa2BRbg&autoplay=

Extracting wealth for whose benefit? Certainly not for the common good. You are making my point. At the confluence of money and government resides corruption. And BTW, the LESS government does today, the better off we are."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." I agree - that phrase has been bastardized by the left AND the right to justify their actions. >And BTW, the LESS government does today, the better off we are. Depends on what the issue is. You were pretty gung-ho about the various wars they fought over the past ten years.
