gowlerk 2,277 #26 February 27, 2016 You and brenthutch are proving the authors statement: Quote"Partisan audiences will savage fact-checks that contradict their views, and that’s true of both the right and the left." You don't like the message, therefore it must be both biased and untrue. Although the story is from The NY Times, the fact checking quoted is not. It is from Politifact. Here is a link to where they explain who they are and who funds them. Very open and very upfront. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/blog/2011/oct/06/who-pays-for-politifact/ But go ahead, shoot the messenger. gowlerk 2,277 #29 February 27, 2016 brenthutchRanking Bill "I never had sex with that women" Clinton, as the most honest politician, doesn't pass the smell test. That reflects YOUR bias. Keep in mind that the list isn't that long. It's mostly the current candidates and it does not go very many years back. Saying that it doesn't pass the smell test is pretty much the same thing as saying it lacks truthiness. But I know what you mean, we all bring our own preconceptions to the table. It helps me to try to be aware of them so that I don't give them too much weight.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. I am not saying the following is true. But, think of it this way. Let's say that this is the only lie Bill Clinton ever told. That would make him the most truthful politician out there, ever. Now let's compare Bill BJ Clinton to another politician who has maybe told 50 lies during his career. You may believe that those 50 lies weren't as bad, plus you can kind of understand why he lied about them, or why he misstated the truth a little. Now in your mind, the second politician is a lot more truthful.

DougH 270 #44 February 28, 2016 I don't think any candidate should release their tax returns. My reasoning is the misleading reporting that goes on about taxes. The media twists and bends interpretation of taxes constantly, in a deliberate effort to mislead readers who don't have a strong grasp on taxes. Perfect example "Bank of America made XX billion dollars and they didn't pay any US taxes in 2011" Common newspaper reader (that has a super low effective tax rate due to our progressive tax structure) - Man that is bullshit, I pay so much in taxes, the system is rigged. Reality - BOA has massive net operating losses from the financial crisis that reduced their regular taxable income. I would be on board if the media wasn't so unethical about how they reported complex subjects like companies and persons tax positions."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
