yoink 321 #26 February 17, 2016 billvon Can you imagine? Saying the exact opposite of what someone believes? Inconceivable. Trump 1999: I am "very pro-choice . . . I just believe in choice." Trump 2015: I am "pro-life and I have been pro-life." Trump 2000: "I support the ban on assault weapons" Trump 2015: "I am against gun control." Trump 2000: "I am very liberal when it comes to health care . . I believe in universal health care. I think it is an entitlement to this country, and too bad the world can't be in this country." Trump 2015: wants to repeal Obamacare I've never liked this form of reasoning. Yes, it can easily be seen as someone saying whatever is necessary at the time, but then I don't want anyone in office who is unable to change their opinions either. If new data has become available then people should be lauded for reacting to it. Absolutely not saying that's true in these particular instances, but imagine someone who said 15 years ago 'climate change is a hoax', and now says 'climate change is a real threat' because their understanding has changed. Should they be criticized for not sticking to a wrong opinion?

"Yes, I said I wanted a single payer system - but I looked into it more deeply and now I don't think that will work for us." (As opposed to "I never said that! I am going to sue you.") Remember, Cheney's always going to have the upper hand. Trump only claimed to be able to shoot someone and get away with it. Cheney did it!!!" AND I am going to sue you. and that guy over there too" ? ...
