That is a function of low information voters.... Team voters usually get it wrong.

(I don't know anything about his particular issue but I've said it before that the cry of "Flip-Flop!" over any change in position must be one of the most damaging aspects of modern political commentary. The ability to change one's mind over time, through thought, consideration, and discovery of new information should be a celebrated quality.
