Track immigrants just like FedEx - Christie

Recommended Posts

Another great Republican plan to grow the economy! Foreign tourists spent $222 billion dollars in the US in 2014, and supported 8 million US jobs (source). I'm sure that number will only go up when tourists find out they have to wear a tracking device. Nothing says "welcome to America" like a radio collar or being micro-chipped.

Great idea - maybe tattoo a bar code on their foreheads. Kinda reminiscent of the Nazi concentration camps, and we know how efficient they were.

Nah
the only thing Nazi around here is how Obama is running his office......

OMG . . . Wow.

Seriously?

What ovens and concentration camps did he order in place?
What race supremacy is he openly demanding, and funding?
What religious group is he blaming for the crisis that is our economy?
Which neighboring countries did he invade?
How many people did he murder just for disagreeing with him?

I'm in no way an Obama fan, but that statement was so over the top as to ony have the possibility of being a seriously failed joke.

Damn, wow.

I'm just . . . Wow.

Question. Why my post and not kallends?

Possibly because Christie HAS proposed tracking human beings like FedEx tracks packages (FedEx uses barcodes, the Nazis used numbers). Obama has done nothing of the sort and your response was just plain stupid.

That's just a lame attempt to distract attention away from Christie's loony right wing proposal. And judging by all of us answering it, it worked!

Quote

Mr. Christie did not say specifically how a system would track people the same way packages are tracked by FedEx, which scans a bar code on the package at each step of its delivery.

A FedEx spokeswoman declined to comment on Mr. Christie’s remarks.

No, my point was aimed at kallends lame comparison.

And let us not forget that I do not like Cristi either

I get it now. The point was not to criticize Obama, but rather to criticize Kallend. So it really has nothing at all to do with the main subject of the thread, it merely serves to show your disapproval of him. I'm glad you don't feel your nation is run by a Nazi after all. And I agree, Christie is neither a Nazi nor a potential President. Just an opportunist.

Yeah that's it.

In any event, we will see this theme continued. The Republican all say something and kallend and those like him will make wide brush swipes at the whole presidential field. Nothing new, it's what happens every time. Summary? Republican stupid. Democrat smart.

There's an intelligent post. Very lucid.

Thanks, Marc, you make my point very well.

If you saw that in Kallends original post then maybe you're reading too much into it...

I saw implied criticism of one Republican nominee. Can you explain in the following quote where the 'broad brush' that is swiping at the whole presidential field is?

I also didn't see any reference to either the Republican or Democrat parties, or any inference of their implied intelligence. Can you explain in the same quote where you're seeing that?

From the original post I saw one guy being critisised for likening people to packages, and for wanting to apply an enforced tracking mechanism - the comparison to the inhumanity of the Nazis seemed obvious to me.

Again, it seems like you see a post by Kallend and rather than reading, digesting and responding to it, you simply take the opposite position - no matter how ludicrous it is.
It's OK to agree with each other on some things... The 'I'm a Republican therefore I must oppose every non-Republican' stance that you seem to have really doesn't do you any favors.

The NSA admittedly taps all of our phones and emails. There is a rising amount of police departments running license plate scanners 24/7 on their cruisers as they drive around town, scooping up the locations of citizens going about their LEGAL daily business and storing that info on large databases. Nearly every time you are in public you are recorded on camera on feeds that are typically on TCP/IP based with no security, and could easily be intercepted by agencies so your movements tracked through facial recognition and potentially iris scanning technology. The government has admitted to building fake cellular phone towers to eavesdrop on our conversations and pull data from our phones. Other govt agencies have admitted to having planes flying 24/7 monitoring folks. We walk around with an electronic device in our pockets that tells any interested party exactly where we are 24/7 and that device has shown to be easily compromised by having it's camera and microphone remotely turned on. We are now installing that technology in most vehicles made. I find that people are OK with all of that, but find Christie's ridiculously archaic idea as offensive very obtuse.

I think the big difference is the distinction between sections of society. All of the stuff you listed happens to all of us - we should rightly be concerned about it.
But when we start targeting a specific demographic for tracking just because they're 'immigrants' or 'Jews' that's a slippery slope. [:/]

Nope - he wants to track EVERY immigrant in order to be able to find people if they BECOME illegal by overstaying.

That means I'd have been chipped. Despite opening a company, hiring Americans, never exceeding my visa requirements, getting a green card etc.

What would happen if I took the Citizenship test too? All of a sudden they'd be tracking an American Citizen... pretty sure you'd be up in arms if they suggested that. ;)

I am ok with that too, if you have a ticket into the US that expires then they should have a way to find you if you overstay it.

I thought it was more geared about tracking those that came here illegally (cross border, or overstayed visa), comit more crimes, get arrested and released due to the system this administration has set up, and eventually kill like that illegal who killed the woman in San fransisco.
