Amazon 7 #1 July 5, 2015 http://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/republicans-unlearning-facts-learned-third-grade-compete-primary In the hopes of appealing to Republican primary voters, candidates for the 2016 Presidential nomination are working around the clock to unlearn everything that they have learned since the third grade, aides to the candidates have confirmed. With the Iowa caucuses less than a year away, the hopefuls are busy scrubbing their brains of basic facts of math, science, and geography in an attempt to resemble the semi-sentient beings that Republican primary voters prize. An aide to Jeb Bush acknowledged that, for the former Florida governor, “The unlearning curve has been daunting.” “The biggest strike against Jeb is that he graduated from college Phi Beta Kappa,” the aide said. “It’s going to take a lot of work to get his brain back to its factory settings.” At the campaign of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the mood was considerably more upbeat, as aides indicated that Walker’s ironclad façade of ignorance is being polished to a high sheen. “The fact that Scott instinctively says that he doesn’t know the answers to even the easiest questions gives him an enormous leg up,” an aide said. But while some G.O.P. candidates are pulling all-nighters to rid themselves of knowledge acquired when they were eight, the campaign of Rick Perry, the former governor of Texas, is exuding a quiet confidence. “I don’t want to sound too cocky about Rick,” said one Perry aide. “But what little he knows, he’s shown he can forget.”
lawrocket 3 #2 July 5, 2015 Rather interesting. As compared to the Democrats. Interesting race. We have the imperial legacy of the Democrats and the GOP attempting to fight that same imperial legacy with Jeb. So let's look back twenty years to the past. Because that's progress. rehmwa 2 #9 July 5, 2015 RonD1120The bottom line division in the U.S. is between those who believe in the Holy Bible and those who do not. Frankly, I agree with you in part. That absolutely is what's dividing the extremists on both ends from each other. One group wants to control how we all think from PC crap, the other group wants to control how we all think from biblical crap. No thanks to either, I can think for myself. Perhaps those two 10% groups need to get together and join forces and start a country where one can't even sneeze without permission. The sad part is how each party is allowing their pet fanatical factions to set their agendas ... airdvr 210 #10 July 6, 2015 Hillary is probably the most easily defeated candidate the GOP has had to deal with in 20 years. She needs a porter to carry around all that baggage. You can only bring in an unknown junior senator from IL every so often. That's part of the reason everyone wants a shot at her. Please don't dent the planet. billvon 3,090 #13 July 6, 2015 >The bottom line division in the U.S. is between those who believe in the Holy Bible and >those who do not. That's not a division, that's a continuum. Very few people believe in it 100%. It contradicts itself in places, calls for the execution of gays, requires you to marry your brother's wife if he dies (even if you are married to someone else) etc. 70% of the US is Christian; they believe in the Bible to a greater or lesser extent. The remaining 30% include religions like Judaism which follow parts of the Bible. Thus if you are looking to draw a line, you have to make one up. Most people take the easy way out and say "if someone is in my flavor of religion they are true believers; everyone else is just misled."

Perhaps not . . . . ================= GOP candidates must turn in financial disclosure on time to get into first debate By Matea Gold July 9 at 12:53 PM WaPo The large field of Republican presidential hopefuls jockeying to make the cut for the first 2016 debate will have to file a public disclosure of their personal finances on time to participate. That means every candidate who declared before July 6 — a group of 14 contenders including former Florida governor Jeb Bush and real estate magnate Donald Trump — will have to reveal information about their assets and debts to get into the Aug. 6 event in Cleveland. Trump told The Washington Post in an interview Thursday that he will file his financial disclosure ahead of schedule, perhaps next week. Bush has not yet said whether he will do so. =================== This has the GOP very worried. Also from WaPo: ================ One GOP state party chairman, speaking on the condition of anonymity so he could be frank, said of Trump: “He’s already done some damage, and it could be substantial going forward. He could be one of the reasons we lose. It’s that serious. There’s nothing we can do about it, and that’s what’s so scary.” =============== They can always deny him the nomination, of course. But he's threatened to run as an independent, and that worries them even more. So the fun won't end too soon, at least.
